My Beloved

Those chimes really threw me.  Those chimes were bought by my parents and hung outside the kitchen window of the little Black Lake cottage.  The family joke was that the chimes were really too bulky to ever knock from the wind.  They just hung on a tree and looked pretty but never really sang a tune.  That was until that night...

Many years ago my mother was diagnosed with a rare leukemia.  It was a nasty and extremely aggressive strain.  It took her rather quickly.    She died in her hospital room while her choir members sang an acapella version of my mother's original Lord's Prayer song.  Surreal...

Immediately after her death, my family drove an hour and a half to a family cottage seeking retreat.  The cottage is on a lake called Black Lake in northern Michigan.   It was a still, very still, August weather.  There was no wind or waves that day and it became even quieter into the evening.  

Sometime around midnight, the chimes outside the kitchen window of the cottage began to ring.  They didn't just pitter and patter a few clanks of a dissonant chord that still night.  No, they knocked together hysterically.  They rang like this for 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds... and then ... they stopped.   It was almost as if someone was playing a tune of rejoicing on them.  I will never know.

Here is a song that has blessed me much when I went through a difficult time with my health... I would listen to the song every day and cry my eyes out...  This is a tribute to a wonderful song writer by the name of John Mckay...  I don't know John but his music has really blessed me... Check him out... His original version of Wilderness is so good...

This is a very personal song for me... It is a remembrance of two souls lost about 3 years ago in a tragic accident.  The two were just having a good time and never intended to hurt family or friends with this tragic outcome...

Hello and welcome to my Sound Cloud site.  All of the music on my site is original and composed and performed by either my high school students or myself.  The music is recorded and produced completely in house.  Through the process we are learning how to write music and to better learn the art of production... It has been a real educational ride...  After listening to our music, I would hope you would notice that all of the songs have a least a component of inspiration.  That is that they are all inspired by the Holy Spirit, often through the Psalms. 

 I teach (mostly mathematics) in a Christian school in Hong Kong.  However, I have also been very privileged to have the opportunity to develop a Bible class dedicated to prayer, Psalm reading and the composition of music.  My aim through this class is to give students the opportunity to know their creator in a more intimate way, through prayer, His Word and creating music.  I do believe that when we are creative, we are being like our great and Almighty Creator in  heaven.  

Please enjoy the music but also know that our heart is not necessarily to produce professional sounding music but to create opportunities for the students at my  school to grow in faith and creativity.  We enjoy the process of writing recording and producing and are trying to "raise the bar" all the time to improve the process...
