All of the stories in this collection were transcribed from the voice of the Great Breath and the Lips of Nature Herself. My role as a child of the Earth and a traveler through the light waves was to infuse my humanity into what I hear and feel in the forests and with the mountains and the riversides. Language is everywhere, and comes in so many forms, melody is all-pervasive, everything is rhythm, so, quite literally, the music is a compilation of creatures made of melody spawned from the rivers, from the wind, from the Voice of Nature.

Amaya is the first single off of the new full length album Mauna coming October 2nd, 2019! 

Mauna means mountain in Hawaiian, and silence in Sanskrit. Amaya comes from Sanskrit, and means non-illusion, absence of delusion, or true reality, with the root word amma, which means mother, I sing to Amaya, the mother of truth, the mother of sound, of true creation, and I sing to the silence, Shiva. 

Amaya is one of the dearest songs to me on this album, a love song to the Great Creatress, and to her beloved, Shiva, a love song to the silence from where we all come and where we shall go.

Children of the Land is island roots, grounded in chanting, an organic folk rock anthem to Mother Earth and all of her children. Including bluesy trumpet and drum solo. 

Born on an organic farm in Hawai'i, "Children of the Land" pays tribute to the rhythms of nature, and the artists, poets, musicians, and rainbow warriors who cultivate their love and trust by following their heart's passions, like working in harmony with the Earth to grow wholesome food including the sacred staple food of Hawai'i, the Kalo. Every organic garden is a statement of rebellion against the industrial agriculture system and a proclamation of self sustainability and direct communion with the elements that give us life! Growing plants and growing Love go hand in leaf!

The word mauna means mountain in Hawaiian, and in Sanskrit, mauna means silence. 

Polikua is a Hawaiian word that refers to the dip that is just beyond the Horizon where the eye cannot see; here is where we come from and to where we will go. I sing to the horizon to pull forth the song from there, and from the depths and edges of our hearts. From the sea to the sky, I praise the Eastern Sunrise for giving us the warm light that gives life! It sheds hope and peace onto our Love Country that we create every day through compassion and community. As Children of the Land, we grow with the rhythms of nature, and when the heart is open the Mountain Woman can roam freely and share the abundance of earth, and read the Patterns in the Sand, the map of the mystery, the language in the leaves, and the rivers in our hands. When we Listen to our heart beat we can learn to let it help us climb the Mauna (mountain) and find mauna (silence) at the top in the deepest places in us. Mother Kalalea, a mountain goddess on east side of Kauaʻi, gave birth to us and protects us as we ask the questions that make us human, what is love? who am i? Where is Home? At the end of life, we leave through the portal of Polihale, house of the dead, on the west side of Kauaʻi. In this journey, we troubadours of the soul find the grace of advaita, non-duality, and Amaya, non-illusion. Amaya means true reality, with the root word amma, which means mother. I sing to Amaya, the mother of truth, the mother of sound, of true creation, and I sing to her companion, the silence, Shiva. All that I am, all that has ever happened, and all that will ever happen, is happening In Your Love.

Steven Sedalia is an emerging singer-songwriter forging a folk fusion sound incorporating various styles from around the world, including Appalachian twang, island roots, Hawaiian mele, and Sanksrit devotional chanting. Spiced and served into love songs, these flavors combine with Sedalia's bright voice and summery acoustic guitar for an emotionally nourishing and energetic serenade. 

Being raised in the countryside foothills of North Carolina has instilled in Sedalia a deep reverence for the the land and that is emergent in his songs. Currently based in Hawai'i, this praise seems to have multiplied as the music mixes the moods of devotion, romance, wonder, awe, joy of abundance, and exploration of love.
