GRiZ wasn’t expecting to drop his latest single, “Coast 2 Coast,” as an official release, until he gave it to a few of his DJ friends and noticed the online response. In this exclusive commentary, the Detroit-born, Denver-based DJ, producer and songwriter talks about the making of the surprise collaboration. He explains how, after taking a few years off from touring, he went through a few vocal versions of “Coast 2 Coast” before enlisting British grime rapper Flowdan to make it complete. “You’re an absolute legend, man,” GRiZ tells his collaborator. “You smashed! So sick.” The final result is the product of, in his own words, “not overthinking or overworking it, just trusting the process and letting the universe do what it does.” Listen now, only on SoundCloud.

House music producer BIJOU considers his latest work for collaboration with FISHER’s Catch & Release label to be a full relaunch. In this exclusive commentary, the Arizona native talks about the making of his latest single, “Mind Eraser,” and recent tracks “Mobbin,” “Put It Down” and “Take Me.” He explains how “Mind Eraser,” a collaboration with friend and vocalist Datti, came together in record time during a layover en route from the Dominican Republic to LA. Two weeks later, FISHER rinsed the song at a gig. “It’s a crazy series of events,” says BIJOU. “It never happens like that.” For “Mobbin,” he was inspired by hip-hop, so he “took it back to the big sub-heavy basslines and whiny, West Coast synths.” Elsewhere, on “Put It Down,” he created a memorable for festivals and dancefloors alike, while when creating “Take Me,” he tried new synth techniques that “gave the song a new type of energy.” Listen now.
