As one of the most successful German live acts in electronic music, Kollektiv Turmstrasse is an influential presence on the global techno and house sound. With regular shifts in his musical direction and stylistic development, he is living proof that change means progress. As an artist who is focused on the liberated space between breakbeat, driving house tracks and anthems for the dancefloor, he is unique with a compelling discography. Also heading up his inclusive, community-focused event series, YAP (You Are Perfect), Kollektiv Turmstrasse is a complex, progressive, and intriguing artist.

Nico Plagemann, the creative mind behind the Turmstrasse project, is deeply passionate about house music, but his sound doesn't get stuck in one repetitive cycle. Instead, he takes musical departures into exciting and winding avenues, leading us past breakbeat, indie dance, and techno to influences from hip hop and the catchy, but always high quality, elements of pop music. With his sound, Turmstrasse narrates his ongoing journey as an artist who has witnessed a plethora of musical trends over the years. “I let myself be inspired by new trends; to me, it is especially important to always bring in variety,” he says. “My sound is a crossover of everything I listen to – and that ranges from soul to techno.” Something that is evident on his latest album, ‘Unity of Opposites’.


Turmstrasse's series of events called ‘YAP’, which takes place in various venues in Europe, also fits in with this outlook. It reflects not only Nico's ideals but also the ideals that are the foundations of dance music culture: inclusion, community, and respect. YAP is short for ‘You Are Perfect’. Steven McIntyre, born in 1975 in Münster, discovered his passion for music as a teenager at a British boarding school, where he immersed himself in various pop genres and electronic sounds. His journey into the music scene began in 1990 with an internship at the record shop King Music in Münster, which led to his first DJ experience. He quickly gained recognition, becoming resident DJ at the Cosmic Club and from then on travelling as Steve Stix. His first own events, with headliners like Miss Djax, Ilsa Gold, Steve Mason and Scooter, caused a sensation.
In the late 90s and early 2000s, Steve's career blossomed as he performed alongside renowned DJs and opened his own record shop “Dundrum Records” in 1999, which was originally planned as record label. With residencies at Maria am Ostbahnhof in Berlin and Cosmic Club Münster, as well as founding Monopark events, he continued to create a stir in the electronic music, which had a major influence on the electronic music scene in northern/western Germany, especially for minimal and early melodic techno. He also worked as a freelance record critic for various dance magazines (Raveline, Groove …) and on the jury of the German Dance-Music Awards in 2000-2003. 
In 2013 he founded his own event and media agency, also dedicated himself to artist management and graphic design. His commitment to music production culminated in releases on renowned labels such as Traum Schallplatten and Stil vor Talent in 2023.
