Exclusive: Felice - Leaving Trails

Live At Robert Johnson continues to deliver the (Italo) Disco goodies with the release of Felice's Infinite Suburbia EP. The four tracker is altogether provided with two original tracks, Infinite Suburbia and Leaving Trails, while the EP's eponymous track comes with an instrumental version and a remix from Lauer. The B1, Leaving Trails, covers various musical influences and is seemingly more dark and clubby as Infinite Suburbia. However, the track takes the same (positive) summer route as the title track and has unbeatable intriguing chords that awake the dreamer in every dancefloor romancer, the shuffling hi-hats add a pushing feel, namely that of moving your shoulders in the beat of the groove with closed eyes to give in to the chord sequences.

Felice's EP Infinite Suburbia will be released on Live At Robert Johnson on July 30th, 2021.

Permanent Wave is the sound of darkest hour just before the dawn. It's a duo of Tronik Youth aka Neil Parnell and Justine - now both based in Berlin. A shadowy twin-peaks kind of sound is persistent throughout the whole release, and the remix by Iñigo Vontier only extends the already dark atmosphere to the basement dance-floor, inviting all the right people to join in! @JackWasFaster makes his debut for @FactorCity with four excellent dance-floor cuts that bridge the currents of slow-mo techno and cosmic disco, a perfect blend of darkness and light.

“Perro viejo” is a 12’ apocalyptic jam built around pulsating beats, an industrial atmosphere, and acid synths.  Italian duo @YoungerThanMe chose this track to remix, condensed it and added extra tension by adding synth stabs and vocal chops. Rave on!

Originally written and produced as the centrepiece to his 2014 FabricLive compilation, Erol Alkan’s ‘Sub Conscious' arrives on 12” vinyl and to streaming platforms for the first time, accompanied by two charismatic remixes from Manfredas.

Shimmering and undulating, the original cut of ‘Sub Conscious’ was designed with Fabric’s cavernous main room in mind, taking full advantage of any finely-tuned soundsystem with a patient, rhythmic trip. Remastered here, the track evolves out of hazy darkness towards halcyon euphoria in a uniquely Alkan style.

Resident at Opium Club in Vilnius, cult DJ and producer Manfredas provides two hugely creative and alternative takes on ‘Sub Conscious’. The first works hallucinatory magic with a supple bassline and much of Alkan’s original stretched and repurposed around vampish oscillations and a westward vocal sample.

On the contrary, the ‘Stream Of Consciousness' mix sees Manfredas pitch down and strum the bones of ‘Sub Conscious’, unexpectedly delivering a lovingly lethargic, bottom-heavy jam that’s pure dubside pleasure.
