Very excited to share this with you! For the 30th anniversary of Blue Lines, I came up with this chronological comprehensive deep dive into all things sample era Massive Attack. Starting with the beginnings as Wild Bunch in 1986/1987, early and later remixes and solo records of collaborators and supporters, this mix goes into recreating the albums “Blue Lines”, “Protection” and “Mezzanine” using the original samples, instrumentals, interpolations, remixes and b-sides. This was done live on April 11th on my Mixcloud and Twitch channels (now slightly reworked and remastered for the Soundcloud archive) using only vinyl records, two turntables, a Pioneer 909 Mixer and a microphone. Just recently came across this phenomenal new 45 by the Swedish group Dina Ögon and made a little practice live remix video for my socials with it. During early 2015 I got the chance to dig deeper into vinyl from all around the world and through a very lucky circumstance (Thank you so much again Kati Joon!) I got my hands on a few 7“ 45s that came directly out of Iran and I decided to make a small mix with them. 

The reason this mix is called "Forbidden Sounds" is exactly that - this wonderful music from the late 60s to the late 70s out of Iran is still banned by the current Government to this day. The possession and distribution of vinyl records within Iran is not allowed and a lot of copies were destroyed. Also several of the active artists like Googoosh (see picture) suffered under the regime. This mix was done as an hommage to the wonderful and inspiring artists that made music in Iran during the pre-revolution years. I truly hope you'll appreciate it. Enjoy!

That’s why “Do The Yachtrockaway“ was born, a daytime summer event in NYC that’s focused on the softer side of rock, jazz, folk, soul, and disco - the crispy sound that was initially known as "West Coast" and later "Yacht Rock“. This mix is a little taste of our next “Do The Yachtrockaway“ event in Brooklyn on Sunday, July 23rd at the El Dorado Yacht Club (part of Diviera Drive in Williamsburg, where an actual Yacht is on site!). This mix is a true amagalmation of all things smooth, ranging from Thundercat’s crooning - and even some Reggae and Latin tinged tracks - via forgotten classics to private press blue eyed soul pearls. Most of these tracks have not been compiled before and there is more to come. Hope you enjoy this and see you next Sunday in Brooklyn to celebrate the good life!
