The 45th beanape release is a very special one. It is the debut of the Ukrainian DJ and musician Misha Svirid, who fled from Odessa to Berlin at the end of February. Label boss Ante became aware of Misha through a post by Phonique, who was Djing with Misha in Odessa in mid-February. After the first listen, Ante invited Misha to his beanape party at Marktlokal in Kreuzberg, where Misha convinced with skills, charisma, and a fantastic house set. It goes without saying that Ante wanted to go to the studio with the young talent right away. The result of the collaboration are two rousing club tracks with strong vocals that enrich every DJ set from deep to disco. And because support is everything in these times, the beanape artist Othertune went one better with a remix of Summer in Odessa in his typical melodic sound. What should we say: MUSIC IS THE ANSWER!

Delving a darker place, "Harakat" goes a more straightforward route with its immersive oriental ambience and all-terrain 4x4 adaptability, trading the main track's loping swagger for a train-like chug that keeps on delivering bar after bar, gaining an intensity that shall prove all the more fuel-efficient in the field.

A decisively singular voice in today's techno landscape, SKALA keeps on carving out her lane aside from typical club wares, injecting her floor-ready blends with a pop sensibility that infuses through all compartments of her sound, from EBM-derived muscularity to abstract ethereality, via sequences of mind-expanding dreaminess and a louder-than-loud, industrial-adjacent punch that make her truly stand out from competition. 

Fusing a straight out martial groove with impeccably integrated piano chords painstakingly drilling their way across thick strata of raucous drum processing and layered machine thunder, the hair-raising "Any Reason Why" featuring Dominique Fricot's velvety vocals encapsulates the greater part of SKALA's signature synthesis of heart-rending melodicism and profuse amplitude of energy, continually counterbalancing force with scope, ruggedness with nuance. Julian Wassermann has been at the cutting edge of the Melodic House and Deep Techno scene for over a decade as he now appears on Balance Music with the 4-track 'My Side' EP.

With further forays into the realm of Tech and Deep House, the Munich based artist has been a regular across the clubs of his homeland including Berlin’s Watergate and a residency at Munich’s Harry Klein. Moreover, festival appearances at Pleinvrees in Amsterdam and Stuttgart’s SEMF has seen Wassermann take captivated audiences on a journey through diverse and energised sets.

In tandem, a production career has borne witness to some 400 credits spanning an array of the most respected independent imprints in the underground dance scene.

This latest EP now sees Julian Wassermann make his Balance Music debut with typical aplomb. ‘My Side’ features a powerful rhythmic force as a sizzling top line adds tension and vibrancy. Simultaneously, a rippling arpeggio and spine-tingling bassline sequence emerge in impressive fashion to create a sublime melodic pattern that shimmers in analogue glory against the metronomic rhythm, before a beatless breakdown demonstrates its full majesty. An intermittent vocal cut pushes the track forward to a rousing finale.

'Tetra' revels in its growling and fizzing bassline. A deep kick and off-beat percussion keep the energy high as a pitched synth arpeggio creates dancefloor intensity. A chorus of intermittent effects and counterpoint motifs provide a woven tapestry of sound that peak in a metronomic crescendo at the 4-minute mark as the key elements seamlessly drop away, one by one, in the final stages to create an exquisitely crafted piece.

‘Faro' is steeped in trademark techno sensibilities as a whip-cracking kick drives the track forward atop a rumbling and sustained bassline. Building steadily a lead line filters into sonic range as it evolves into an immaculately syncopated motif. Rising and falling with ease, the track is a seething dancefloor powerhouse.

'Blossom' rounds off the EP in style with its deep and hypnotic vibe.

Stil & Bense from Osnabrück (GER) are focussing on deep techno vibes and housy disco tunes. Tom & Arne are two artists that perfectly complement each other, both originate from two completely different backgrounds: While Tom Stil is an experienced and passionate DJ and known for his pumping, melodic sets, Dr. Arne Bense contributes the wide-ranging musical knowledge he gained during his music studies. The combination of these two versatile artist characters with their different styles bring out a unique sound.
