The thing before a demo that is not a demo that sounds diy dodgj as fuck and lives only on my icloud and was recorded on my ipad mini with no microphone or instruments so contains prolonged silences in place of instrumental build ups/buss downs. 

This was a fun exercise in pushing myself to fully flesh out a fleeting thought. It was surprisingly easy to let go of inhibition and keep writing through the urge to strive for perfection. 
I am quite proud of what has come of it, there are a few disjointed voice notes with a very loose sketch of the sonic landscape of the song and a Spotify playlist of melodic inspo.

It started off with the image of anxiety; scratching my micro fro and the snowfall that ensues, then into the general reflections of and other physical ways in which this materialises. 
In other words it’s about dandruff kinda.

One unassuming night in the modestly lit hinterlands of the peer hat basement, a conclave of wandering souls, youthful and generously matured, gathered. 

What came of it? a silly, fun, raucous time of entirely improvised chaos.

Here in this humble 7 minutes out of the 2+ hours of recordings lies the segment in which Jack White grasped me by the synapses and insisted I channel him.

Ok! First club-setting outing on my own genre fluid terms :))  I can't lie, the mp4-mp3 convert quality is so bad I imagine no one is listening to this unless they love and feel morally obliged and/or compelled to show me support. 

Alas, this was fun yet way more chaotic than I remember lol... excited to ride this wave, learning and growing <3

A fellow mixer said he never really listens to 'band music'. Naturally, this inspired me to make a mix that reflected why I love djing - sharing fun cocktails my favourite music, leccy and 'band' alike. I like what this brainworm evolved into :))

dj gruel mix - Battle of the Bands (TUES11NOV2025)

This one’s for the ass shakers and is full of some very odd, punchy, clickclackity rhythms. It’s a bit grimey (in vibe not genre or maybe one of the songs is actually grime, I'm not the best with genres), a dash futuristic in places and as always chaotic. What we have here is essentially 20 mins of bangers and a couple of clangs!

You’ll have to forgive the not so subtle fade out, the final song did not make the cut :))
