Over the years, Berlin has been cited as Oliver Koletzki's main point of reference and, more importantly, his endless source of inspiration. His albums Großstadtmärchen and Großstadtmärchen 2 are wholehearted tributes of the German capital, as its importance is continuously hinted and charted. Friedrichshain, one of Berlin's vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Oliver's heart. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Kreuzberg's wall paintings adorn Stil vor Talent's cover sleeves and host their headquarters. There are little to no corners in the city that haven't brought a spark of inspiration into the mix. The Schneeweiss compilation series, now at its 12th installment, is built as a form of tribute to all these particles, tied in together into a series of carefully curated tracks. Fur Coat’s @oddityrecordings label starts 2021 with a fresh edition of the acclaimed various artists “Odd Echoes Vol.4”. This instalment showcases some artists that are already known to the label, as well as many new additions to the family. 

Fur Coat’s commitment to their label over the last few years has seen the imprint amass a dedicated following and an ever growing list of respected and lauded releases. Utilising their Various Artists compilations, the duo have unearthed some extremely exciting talent in this world and given emerging artists a platform to exhibit their craft. 

Diving into the package we are greeted with the melodic and emotional sounds that Oddity has their recognisable stamp. Its clear though that each artist involved has developed their own signature sound and presents something unique to the VA. The first half is formed of well crafted tracks which ease us into the sound. Tracks the build and develop over time and help to kick start out musical exploration. 

In true Oddity style the second half of the package leans towards darker and more driving pieces. Casting the listeners mind to the dancefloors which the tracks were meant to be played on. It's a VA formed of 21 original tracks mostly from first-timers on the label, that all together solidify the identity of the series and sound of Oddity.

A classic progressive house track, saturated with the light vibes, warm mood, and airy atmosphere, is complemented by a dynamic drum part, crunchy analog bass synthesizer sound, and mesmerizing harmonies of arpeggios and leads. 2020 has been a rough year for many; this doesn’t mean 2021 has to start in the same fashion. We are excited to announce that this January Nazca Records presents a throwback to their 14th release, Signals EP by Thimble. What makes it different? Each track of this record is a remix signed by three exceptional Spanish artists: Animal Picnic, M.E.M.O. and Clemente.

This next release has at its core the value of unity and closure within the community. The Viracochas, beings of a different world and the Nazcas, lovers of art, beauty and nature have inspired Los Suruba, fathers of this label to look into their musical community, share the values of our characters with national artists, and bring light upon their creations. The Nazcas and Viracochas have taught us that there is no future without collaboration and passion, and, this new release reveals to us just that. 

The entire E.P. has intense grooves, solid drums, great melodies, ethnic notes and percussive work-outs. Animal Picnic´s remix starts in a very promising way with uplifting crescendo melodies and soft vocals. M.E.M.O. steps in with tones that are more bizarre where sophisticated synths mix with bells and percussions. Last but not least, Clemente rethinks Thimble´s track more progressively and throws in a very discrete sexy male vocal.

Starting 2021 kicking like yer proverbial mule, hot on the heels of The Selador Showcase: The Twelfth Night Part One, we are proud to present, with a characteristic mix of dexterity, alacrity and logic – Part Two! 

Like its predecessor, this second instalment once again puts the spotlight on a whole host of global electronic production talent (2 x welcome returnees, 4 x Selador debutants) and covers a multitude of styles in one essential package.

First, we find hot Russian duo Goom Gum in tandem with Istanbul-based Gaidukova. ‘Freedom’ is a wonderfully constructed riff fest, underpinned by a mean growling bassline. Peak time action.

Next up, the prolific Several Definitions (Switzerland) brings us the magnificent brooding beast that is ‘Boske’. Maximum wonkiness, just how we like it.

UK scene stalwart Kiz Pattison delivers ‘Intruder’ – this particular intrusion is most welcome though as the insistent lead riff burrows its way into the darkest recesses of your cranium. Hold tight.

London-based Rashid Ajami follows renowned for the emotional depth of his productions, and the beautiful ‘The Lie’, in partnership with Dröm, will only help cement that reputation. Proper swish.

Next from Spain, we welcome Martin HERRS & Thimble, whose hypnotic ‘Impala’ is awash with exotic sounds cascading over a pulsating bassline. Deep, unrelenting business. 

And we conclude with Nila, the New Zealand-based Scot adding to his growing stature with Asyn on the yearning vocals for the powerful, instantly inspiring ‘Answers’.

EP number ten, called 'Sanctum EP', comes from the Italian Alberth and the Belgian duo Senses Of Mind. The EP consists of two collaborations between the artists and two originals, one from Alberth and Hydrah on the vocals, and one from the Belgian duo.
The first piece of music is 'Sanctum', the title track of the EP. It's a powerful yet beautiful song that is taking its time before coming down to a long, emotional and melancholic break. When the driving synth hits its highest point of tension, an energetic moment is created which swallows you into this amazing song.
Next is 'Amethist', an emotive track with melodies suspended above a spacious techno framework. The song moves towards moments of ambience and dreamy harmonies and then converges into an energetic and heavy drop, revealing its full potential.
The third track is an original from Alberth. It's called 'Youngblood' and in a very unique way this great piece of modern dance music surely tells a story. It's a driving song with captivating vocals from Hydrah, energetic and powerful yet lush at the same time and before it's even finished you want to hear it all over again.
'Heliotrope', the final cut of the release is a Senses Of Mind original and it perfectly represents their style, with beautiful and well designed synths, surely this track will hit you in the dancefloor and adds the last missing touch to make the EP really complete.
