After Oliver's and Fran's track "Echoes" already received the full remix treatment it is now the slow jazzy trip-hop ballad "I Might" that gets cured for the dancefloor. First up Murat Kilic takes the original and transforms it into a fast-paced grooving tech-house monster that cuts up the vocal to a rhythmic piece of percussion that jumps nicely in tune with the great punchy synth. This tune is deep, fast and for the floor. We can see the floor shuffling to this already. Then, the Swiss producers Animal Trainer who keep the jazzy ethos and vibe of the original while still creating something new to groove to. Some very natural and organic drumming underlines the deep piano parts that are clearly inspired by the original. Add some house beats on top and here it is: a musical dancefloor pusher. Besides the original track there is also one more track on this EP: a remix of the equally jazzy ballad "Strandbar Berlin" by Björn Störig, who happens to be the drummer of Oliver's live band "The Koletzkis". He has created a wonderfully smooth deeply moving house track that catapults "Strandbar Berlin" onto the dancefloor. The second installment of album remixes is fit and ready for the floor!

The first release of the new year has to be a special one, with 2014 being no exception. After strong EPs on Light my Fire and various remixes, Dan Caster presents an absolute treat on Stil vor Talent, his ‘Bleeding’ EP. 	

The title track kicks things off: here, Benjamin Franklin’s soulful voice carries us through a sea of dub chords, which slowly build into an emotionally charged climax. Kyodai’s remix then offers itself as an ode to classic deep house, as one encounters warming piano keys and saxophone sounds in perfect harmony with the original’s vocals. For ‘Nouvelle Future’ Dan enlists Björn Störig. It’s instantly obvious that the pair is a good match; their organic sunset-house is made for those epic dance-floor moments. Aided by a driving groove, Oliver Schories then accentuates the guitar and vocal elements of the original to great effect. Next up, Dan delivers an outright party-starter in the form of ‘Freaky, Noisy’, which, lastly, KANT reworks with a nod to electro for good measure.

Just in time for autumn, Fran invites us into club music’s parallel world with the project Hamlet: aided by Oded K.dar (NÖRD / The Koletzkis) on the piano, she presents cover versions of beloved electronic classics such as ‘Sky and Sand’, ‘Limit to your Love’, ‘Howling’ or ‘Hypnotized’ on the fittingly titled album ‘Piano’. The initial idea came to the duo at a birthday party; the first baby steps followed the very next day. Surprised by the potential, the autodidactic singer Fran and the studied concert pianist Oded searched far and wide for the perfect grand piano, which they eventually found in the form of an old Steinway at the Greve Studio in Berlin. Thus, the drunken whim developed into fourteen beautiful covers over the course of numerous nightly recording sessions. 

Reduced to vocals and piano, Hamlet let the original track’s essence resound. One is able to hear the soul of the song, as the minimalistic rendition enables breathing space. Moderat’s ‘Bad Kingdom’ or Kraftwerk’s ‘Das Modell’ suddenly appear like honest black and white portraits. The words and melodies, embedded in the harmonies of the piano, are like the wrinkles and peculiarities of a face stripped of make-up, emerging in a hitherto unseen fashion. A new aesthetic is created through the reduction. Removed from the club, the songs on ‘Piano’ are defined by their pure emotiveness – sometimes of a euphoric, sometimes of a melancholic nature – while they are also a nostalgic bridge to their original context. They seem like a vague memory of a late night; like the walk home in the quiet hour before dawn.
