We hand over to James Grant from Anjunadeep in Hour 2, the independent record label based in London, which started in 2005 and is known for music from the deeper end of the house music spectrum. He told us;
“This mix is mainly a collection of future releases on Anjunadeep, with a few other recent favourites sprinkled in. It gives a flavour of our new Anjunadeep 09 compilation and hopefully works as a bit of an intro to the label for anyone not already familiar with us. Overall we try to sign music with melody and emotion - one artist we’re particularly excited about is Lycoriscoris, a Japanese producer who contributes the third track in this mix. That particular track is more dancefloor-oriented but he’s working on an album for us and writes beautiful, soulful electronica that I’d hope followers of Ninja might enjoy too. Another favourite of mine is track 6 in the mix, by Martin Roth. It’s a hypnotic, posh trancer that pretty much embodies the sound of Anjunadeep.”

Gab Rhome has amassed quite the armada of label credits in only 2 years : All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Kindisch, Get Physical and Sasha’s Last night on Earth to name a few. He began his musical journey at an early age playing multiple instruments while being shaped by jazz music, and it only took a few years before making a transition towards the rhythms of dance music.

The Montreal-born musician currently focuses on dreamy and hypnotic electronic music, best suited for warm bubble-baths. His delicate melodies resonate best when coupled with his organic percussions, similar to the relationship between a proper bottle of wine and some classy tenderloin. His melodic tech-house productions have brought him on journeys across the globe where a similar voyage is built during his dj sets.

Breitbeinig und mit festem Stand stehe ich auf dem Dach eines Hochhauses. Ich lasse meinen Blick schweifen und bin von der sich mir dargebotenen Szenerie beeindruckt, als würde ich dieses Bild zum ersten Mal sehen.
Unter mir brennt das Lichtermeer der Stadt, über mir thront majestätisch der Himmel in schwarz.
Nacht auf Nacht gehe ich auf Mission. Die Menschen hier brauchen mich, sie brauchen jemanden der nach dem Rechten sieht und an die Vergessenen denkt. Der den Schwachen eine helfende Hand reicht, die hungrigen speist, die Kranken heilt und bei dem Einsamen verweilt.
Ich bin der Nachtwächter dieser Stadt, meist nur ein Schatten, der Nacht für Nacht seine Runden macht.
