EMJIE Delivers Classic House Energy on ‘Don’t Hold Back’ EP.

Rising star EMJIE channels the essence of classic house music in her latest three-track release, ‘Don’t Hold Back’. Seamlessly fusing deep grooves, soulful vocals, and infectious rhythms, the EP is a masterclass in timeless house energy, driven by raw emotion and club-ready vibes.

Based in Brussels, EMJIE is quickly making a name for herself with her blissful blend of house and indie dance. She has played at Fabric London, Tomorrowland, Sisyphos, and Zamna Tulum, while securing a weekly residency on Studio Brussel. Following a breakthrough B2B set with Diplo at CORE Tulum, her recent releases on Renaissance, True Romance, and Phisica have earned support from Damian Lazarus, Sasha, and Musumeci, solidifying her rise in the global electronic scene.

The EP’s title track, ‘Don’t Hold Back’, is built around a pulsating house groove, with deep rhythmic synths and hypnotic vocal chops creating an irresistible dancefloor moment. ‘What Have You Done’ follows with soulful house elements, a groovy beat, and a tension-filled vocal breakdown before dropping back into its driving rhythm. Closing out the EP, ‘Back To Da House’ takes a dubby, Detroit-inspired approach, keeping energy levels high with rolling basslines and hypnotic flow.

Bar 25 Music In The Mix #181 - WAHM

Audiomatique welcomed Martinez back in 2005 with a release that captured the rising momentum behind the Swedish-born, Copenhagen-based producer. At the time, Martin Swanstein had already begun carving a name for himself with his label Out Of Orbit and a string of well received records on Deeplay, Dessous, and his own imprint.

Shadowboxing marked a defining moment. The title track delivered a twisted stepper balancing on the edge between minimal techno and house. Driven by a tight, propulsive kick and a tense low end, it unfolded through unexpected turns, vocal snippets, and crisp, metallic details.

The B-side featured a remix from fellow Copenhagener and fast rising talent Anders Trentemøller. His rework dialed down the pressure before erupting into a searing synth storm, a trademark move that quickly became synonymous with his early output.

Closing the EP was Sapphire Moon, a deeper, dreamier Martinez cut. Brutal drum textures met soft, melodic threads, showing the duality in his production and the stylistic range that made this release such a standout in Audiomatique’s early years.

While Channel X took us on a full-length musical journey through their very own ‘Wonderland’ in September, this follow-up remix package guarantees to drag you even deeper into the metaphorical rabbit hole thanks to mind-altering reworks by Doctor Dru, Robosonic, Nico Stojan and our competition winners, Juicy Jay & SH. 

Officially the king of synths, Doctor Dru introduces us to his interpretation of ‘My 3 Wishes’ with drawn-out melodies straight from outer space until the vocal arrangement drops into a bass-laden groove. Catering for those big dance floor moments, we are then being treated to a majestic drop that will send you sideways. Stunning! Next, Robosonic tackle ‘Slowly Falling Leaf’, turning the summery vocal house jam featuring Natalie into a new beast entirely by the inclusion of fat horns, shuffling rhythmic patterns and a lot of taste. 

On the flip-side, Upon You’s Nico Stojan presents a mix of ‘My 3 Wishes’ that will reveal its full magic in an after-hour setting as a subtle groove, wry clicks and druggy synths mingle with well chosen parts of the original’s vocal. Lastly, Juicy Jay & SH’s rework of ‘Slowly Falling Leaf’ takes us on a tropical cruise by striking the perfect balance between nu disco and modern trance, causing a serious endorphin rush in the process.
