Hello welcome to the sixth relocked podcast on fnoob techno radio. This is every 4 weekly techno radio show which will be broadcasted on Monday 1 pm to 4 pm GMT. For our show today, we shall have a show with guest spanning across the globe.
First up, we will have FAL:X  from Singapore whose techno passion was influenced by Surgeon, Regis, Oscar Mulero, etc. His music involvement started in 2012 where some like-minded friends and Fal:x started a monthly local techno night called 'Lepalooza' at Home club. From there on, he started getting gigs locally and also internationally to play out. He played at "Consumed" in Spain alongside Angel Costa(Brood Audio, CLR) and Pepe Arcade(Serial Number 849). He also did podcast for REZ on Vicious Radio. Currently Fal:x is focusing on production and we will be seeing a release from him soon
Next up, we will have Neil Birnie, a native from Aberdeen, Scotland. A techno activist who has been scouring the techno underground parties with his wicked selection to move hearts. He has been active organising and playing radio shows on the mighty Fnoob Techno Radio alongside his sets at club events in the UK and Berlin.

010 - MAASYM

(interview below)
Maasym, originally from near Frankfurt/Main and now based in Hamburg, stands for hypnotic, atmospheric techno with refined sound design. He has been active in the scene since 2015, founded his own label Vorm last year and has released on renowned labels such as Token Records, Illegal Alien, Flash Recordings and Planet Rhythm. His style is characterised in particular by the organic, raw sound that he consciously incorporates into his productions.

INTERVIEW
You founded your own label ‘Vorm’ last year. Was there a specific moment or thought that gave the go-ahead for this project?

There wasn't a specific moment for the starting shot, rather a thought. Many of the tracks that were being played and released at the time often sounded very similar to me and also a bit uncreative. I got a bit bored with the scene at the end of 2023, beginning of 2024 and came up with the idea of launching a new label and releasing tracks in the subgenre that I play or listen to a lot myself. I also wanted to give something to the scene and push artists who work hard, are creative and have their own style. But also, of course, to be able to decide for myself what to do with the music I produce. I then decided to kick things off with a record release.

Is there a track of yours that has a special emotional meaning for you?

My track ‘Intermediate Direction’ has a special meaning for me. I started making music in my teenage bedroom when there were no masterclasses or private courses. I sat in front of Ableton and my synthesiser for hours, trying to make my tracks sound like the music I was listening to. One label that I really loved back then (2016) was ‘Token’. Accordingly, the track means a lot to me and I am very happy that I got the chance to release on ‘Token’. Personally, it's still one of my favourite tracks.

Is there any other art form, apart from music, that inspires or excites you?

I listen to a lot of techno & hip-hop/rap, but I'm also a big rock and heavy metal fan. In general, this organic sound from the 70s, 80s or even 90s totally inspires me. There's a lot of life in it and it can often be very ‘rough’ and ‘dirty’. I always try to get this ‘life’ into my tracks when I record my patches or sequences. It doesn't always have to be perfectly produced. Sometimes it's more about the vibe that you feel at that moment when you're making music. Even if the sound is a bit too filtered or creaky.

First up, we will have Rory St John. Rory who is no stranger to the scene from Dublin, Ireland and now based in Berlin, Germany. You have heard him playing out in clubs around Europe. ✈ We are delighted to welcome portuguese dj and producer NØRBAK.

Nørbak is Artur Moreira, born is the late nineties, in the North of Portugal. His devotion into making music begins early in his life, and since then, keeps working in his studio, day after day, discovering and developing his own sound, diving into Ambient, Experimental and mainly Techno. 

It all started in 2016 with labels such and Circular Limited and Illegal Alien, where he gave his first steps and since then he has been releasing his music on respected labels such as PoleGroup, Warm Up Recordings, Semantica, Modularz, Affin, Float Records and his sound has developed throughout these years focusing now more on the mental and physical side of Techno, where he finds the most comfort. 

In 2019 he joins the Portuguese independent collective and label Hayes as an active member, where with his label colleagues he’s pushing the new wave of contemporary Techno. 

With appearances in some respected clubs like Tresor, Lux Fragil, Gare Porto and Family Club he also feels supported by some of the most respected artists in the scene like Oscar Mulero, Jonas Kopp, Svreca, Dasha Rush and more. His future can only be brighter than what it is right now, with so many boundaries to achieve, discover, learn and cross.
