French born, Berlin based Angioma makes his debut on @French born, Berlin based Angioma makes his debut on AFR with the Divergence EP. Heading up his own Room Trax label the young producer has slowing been making his way through the ranks with his tough yet refined and hypnotic sound. This well crafted EP is also backed with a stunning remix from the incredibly talented, Nørbak.

Title track, Divergence opens with warping baselines, tripped out synths and jacked up percussion. Slow Motion heads down a deeper more contemplative path but still packs attitude. Break Your Chains continues with the hypnotic theme but focuses firmly on power and drive. Closing out the EP, Techno’s latest rising star, Nørbak, deliver a creatively unique, broken-beat and atmospheric interpretation of title track Divergence.  with the Divergence EP. The Warsaw-based DJ and producer deliver four energetic tracks in his brash and sophisticated signature style. The EP opens with the title track 'Rigorous', welcoming us with its brutally massaging kick drum complemented by a dystopian synth theme. Next on the list, 'Draco' is a soundtrack for reisefieber before journeying into the cosmic vacuum. 'Scrupulous' with its Detroit twang delivers a peak-time tool whether it's the beginning or end of the night. Stringent' continues its flight through analog arteries, flowing with high-octane synth sounds, leading to a finale that hides interpretations by Alarico and Cratan.

Infrastructure introduce a new artist to the roster, with a brand new talent known only as Post Scriptum. 'Post Scriptum 01' is the debut full length album from the anonymous producer, to be released on 2 x 12'', CD and digital formats.

Quickly following the first ever Post Scriptum track to be released, 'Human Timescales' featured on 'Berghain 07 - Part I' (Ostgut Ton 86), this stunning full length thoroughly outlines the sonic intentions of the project over 11 other-worldy tracks.

Post Scriptum stands for rich, highly detailed modern Techno Electronics. References to Mills-School bleep and unearthly, sci-fi tones are clear to hear. The album features original photographs by Swiss mixed-media artist Julian Charrière, taken on site at a former Soviet nuclear testing ground. The negatives were first exposed through the camera, and then laid on the radioactive earth where interference occurred, resulting in the highly textured end images.

Parallels to the process can be drawn throughout 'Post Scriptum 01', where classic Techno sound sources are clear to hear, however complex processing and a very original approach to arrangement flavours and colours each track. With titles like 'Interstellar Medium', 'Decelerate At The Destination' or 'The Extreme Distance', clear Space - Time themes emerge, evoking imagery of the ongoing Human quest for survival, on this world, and eventually others.

The vinyl version of Post Scriptum 01 is structured with DJs in mind, with club-leaning tracks spanning 4 sides. On the CD version a further 3 titles can be found, with the tracklist arranged as Post Scriptum originally intended for listening in one session.

Isle of Real's theme is of spaces once inhabited, long since abandoned and reclaimed by the creep of nature.

The ten-track album is the first full-length release for an internationally renowned producer and label owner who has been creating and releasing music for over twenty years.

Isle of Real was written whilst on the road over several months. Nomadic writing sessions on planes and in hotel rooms lead to a collection of demos. These demos later took form in the studio of friend and peer Peder Mannerfelt, where a four day recording session in Stockholm shaped the spine of the album, with Mannerfelt acting as recording assistant. This sharing of resources also resulted in contributions from Roll the Dice on the album’s title track.

As an electronic music devotee who began his artistic career as the owner of a record store in his home town of Stockholm in the 90s, Pär Grindvik has been exploring the world of electronic music for two decades, a history audible on this release. Here Grindvik has gone back to the early UK and US techno labels which formed him as an artist; labels like Evolution, Fragile, Transmat, Network, Rising High and Irdial-Discs.

Isle of Real traverses deliberately between scenes of delicate electronica, tracks like ‘Never Give In’, 'Shine’ and 'Shelter', through into uptempo techno tracks like ‘Limits of Real’, ‘Holy Nothing’ and the anthemic ‘The Marlton’. Dark pools of ambience ‘Isle of Real’ and ‘Tide us Part’ bind the LP, whilst 'Headland' and 'Changes' build upon timeless techno blueprints.

As a body of work Isle of Real demonstrates Grindvik’s talent for melody, bearing hooks which thread through the LP, from its plains to its peaks, and which betray the producer’s mythical influences.

D1 - Tide Us Part - Sthlm LTD LP01

October 3rd sees illustrious Italian DJ/producer Fabio Neural return to Carl Cox and Jon Rundell’s celebrated Intec imprint with his latest EP, ‘Black Widow’.

This excellent four-track offering follows on from his ‘Kora’ EP released earlier this year via Intec, as well as ‘Decliner’ and ‘Dillinger’ in 2015 and ‘Yoda’ in 2013.

The EP’s title named track, ‘Black Widow’, kicks off the release, seeing the fierce groover combine dark synths, tidy percussive elements and jittering drums to great effect.

‘Clorofilla’ follows, immediately breaking the silence with fierce, almost blown-out kicks, as gradually elements are introduced to the high-intensity groover. The intrinsic breakdown mid-way through the six-minute number is the track’s only let up, before once again regaining its momentum for the climatic finish.

‘Memories’ features atmospheric, looped vocals and synth chimes that are layered over the pounding four-to-the-floor rhythm. It’s a track that encapsulates the release’s tough yet considered style of Techno, perfect for the underground clubs of Europe and beyond. 

The closing track, ‘Stop The Rot’, similarly utilises the sinister palette of pad tones flaunted throughout the release, combining this with reverbed vocals and an underlying, shuddering bassline throughout its six-minute duration.

‘Black Widow’ is available exclusively via Beatport on October 3rd and everywhere else two weeks later.

The quality of Stockholm LTD’s 2016 output has been hard to top, with acclaimed full length ‘Isle of Real’ from label boss Pär Grindvik in May, followed by a split EP from Grindvik and SLOBODA label head Nihad Tule in September.

And the Stockholm born, Berlin­based imprint is right back with another lethal VA, ‘A Number of Thoughts’. Their 39th release combines contributions from Dutchmen Doka, Sinfol and Octual plus Belgian newcomer Phara, as well as Grindvik himself.

Doka’s ‘Hidden’ layers staggering, tribal percussion under sinister robotic formants. Label boss Grindvik follows up with The Order, where jagged waves of ice build and swell to a dramatic breakdown, to be broken against warm chords and deep harmonies.

On the flipside, Phara turns out 6 minutes of thundering, stuttering techno, while Sinfol and Octual round off the EP with ‘Signals’, as syncopated toms fire under breathy moans.

Miami duo Wolf Story follow up signings on the likes of Lapsus, Goldentears, and Nervous records. and the recently delivered remix of "Dahlias" by Andrea Fissore for Tulipa recordings, with a killer free download in the form of "Full Moon". Wolf Story, residents every Saturday at Club Stache, Fort Lauderdale, have rendered an awesome cut as powerful as it is delicate. A sturdy kick drum lays a strong foundation as mystical arps and interjecting vocal snippets coat the surface. This is a certified roof raiser and, what's more, it's absolutely free. Following their highly acclaimed 'Alpha ep', released on Pfirter's MindTrip record label in 2020, Pfirter and Oliver are now taking the concept one step further on to Par Grindvik's Stockholm LTD record label.
If Alpha was all about loopy old school sounding techno, 'Beta' is taking a deeper approach without reducing the raw energy that the two producers are known for.

Oliver and Pfirter have spent the last few years honing a unique writing process.
The process itself is very simple, as the pair explains:
- Most tracks start with that Oliver recording live takes with his machines, then passing these recordings to Pfirter who is in charge of the mixing and arrangement.
So far we haven't done many retakes or even had to revisit the tracks more than a few times says Pfirter.
