This week on Topshelf we have with us Swedish Italo Champion Marcus Christiansen.
With a deep love for music from the 80's & 90's, Marcus Christiansen has allowed himself to deeply explore his inspirations from Italo to EBM and incorporate them into his work to the highest degree with his first release 2018's 'Arcades' EP being a gloriously fun & inherently 80's sounding marvel that add's modern components & lays deep electronic patterns without sacrificing the aesthetic.
Now nearly 5 years on from that initial release & with a back catalogue boasting tracks like the Italo show stoppers 'Magenta', 'Starstruck', 'Pink Planet' & 'Intergalactic Space Disco' he's part of the movement bringing Italo back and we can't wait to see where he goes from here.

Zaratustra is a Paris-based DJ/Producer who thrives in Indie Dance and Dark Disco genres. Lately, with his latest "White Magic" EP on Ulla Records and releases to come on the Parisian label Skylax Records, he has been blending rock instruments with electronic rhythms, focusing on 80s-like vocals and electric guitars. Other releases are expected on indie dance labels such as Quixotical Records, Mélopée Records, Nubians of Plutonia, and Club Mackan … As a DJ, he likes to take the audience on a dark and mysterious journey.

FEINCAST XXVI: Zaratustra

Zaratustra is a young French producer strongly inspired by indie dance, Italo-disco, EBM, new beat, acid and ethnic music. His style matured over the course of this year & we actually received this extraordinary "uprising" demo. This track symbolizes the perfect mix of rock, Italo and EBM. For the older ones, we will notice the incredible similarity in the voice with Ian Astbury, singer of The Cult. A bit as if this fabulous group would have teleported to 2022 accompanied by a very modern production. It is once again STOLT who strikes the blow with one of his finest vocal performances. We called again on the brilliant Lauer for a rereading halfway between Suicide, Alan Vega & The cramps. This record is more than a statement. It's a miracle.
