Stone Hands is an American Fuzz Folk solo act (mostly recorded live) formed by Singer, guitarist and songwriter Ryan N. Koster in the late 2000's. He first began under the moniker of The Shoe Tree which was heavily influenced by the Folk Punk scene happening in Kalamazoo, MI. but over time slowly evolved. The name was changed when Koster felt his music was "evolving and growing away from the way he used to write." The first full length album "An Extra Limb of Something Normal" was never released to the public and only one copy is said to be made. In 2011 Koster recorded the Locust EP while living in Kalamazoo, MI. The latest album "Sounds From The Grindstone" was recorded and released in 2013 by Koster in his Grand Rapids home. This album is strictly an experimental album for Koster. Never having been signed to a label Koster and musical cohort Jonathan R. Follett (Everyone & Their Empty Cups) began using the name Tree House Records in 2008; named after a house in Kalamazoo they jointly rented. (This name is no longer used because an actual "Tree House Records" exists in Lyndale, MN and Chicago, IL. and Corinthville, KY.)
