Demos I made for a school project, but I kinda like them, so I'm putting them up here just for the hell of it, and because this soundcloud account still exists. The whole project is kinda supposed to be my homage to the soundtracks of the video games I loved growing up. That's about it. Oh yeah, and I made this all on garage band (also just for fun, and because I like how you can view the midi regions as a score instead of just a piano roll). Oh I almost forgot: special thanks to Jason Gassel, Schaefer Hugebeck, and Ryan Callis for laying down the guitars. Also I might someday release updated versions or new mixes.

With Wake Up Call, we wanted to combine the more emotive garage sound championed by artists such as salute, together with liquid drum & bass which we’re better known for. The instrumental came together quite quickly – we wanted to use quite classic, euphoric dance sounds to convey the desired nostalgic feeling. It was a pleasure to work with Eloise Keeble on this track virtually. Her rich, deeper vocal tone matched the vibe of the track from the very first demo she sent over. 

We hope the track invokes a sense of nostalgia in the listener, as that is the feeling that was with us throughout the writing process. Towards the end of summer, we really missed the ‘normal’ summers and generally ‘normal’ life, and that came out in the writing of the instrumental. Whilst Eloise’s lyrics represent a different kind of longing and reminiscing, they still capture the vibe of what we were going for with this track.
