Al-Tarik Onque, Stop Shootin’ Inc. Cofounder is committed to building stronger communities in th City of Newark by empowering youth to realize their true potential. Al-Tarik has immeasurable credibility when speaking to young people and adults about the dangers of gang activity and violence.  Having been a troubled youth growing up in the city of Newark during the 1980’s and 1990’s, he can relate first-hand to the struggles and hardships these youth face daily. Giving up on school and believing he had all the answers to life, he turned to the streets and it was then that he admits he made his biggest mistake. The life of the streets landed him in prison for nine years for two separate violent crimes.

After serving time, and returning to the community, he witnessed first hand how his actions only had helped to destroy the people and neighborhood around him.  He realized that contrary to what he had believed, his actions had only made him powerless and his bad choices made him miss out on seven years of his daughter’s life.  Since his time in prison, Al-Tarik has redeemed himself by mentoring young people and providing them with viable programs and alternatives to crime.  

Al-Tarik is a tireless leader with immense community outreach ability. He is multi-talented, directing overall marketing strategies advertising,promotions,fundraisers and public relations policies for Stop Shootin’. He also coordinates activities between Stop Shootin’ and other organizations,institutions, political leaders, and members of the community in order to establish cooperation between these entities. Al-Tarik embarked on an Anti-Violence Campaign in August 2005 along with the Stop Shootin’ founders and members.  

He served as one of the City’s Safe Schools/Super Summer Community Coordinators then became the Site Director of the Baxter Terrace Family Success Center. 

In 2008 Al-Tarik was recruited by the City of Newark to serve as the Central Ward Liaison, which addresses any issues by constituents in the Central Ward.   Now, he serves as a Senior Aide to Mayor Cory A. Booker. This position has allows him to facilitate services, information, and help assist residents in the City Of Newark.

In 2010 he Cofounded Stop Shootin' Music a Non Profit music marketing campaign that uses music to assist in reversing the trend of Senseless Gun Violence.

Al-Tarik sits on the Board of the I Have a Dream Foundation, Newark Prisoner Reentry, The Early Childhood Council, Affirmative Action as well as the Senior Commission.  Al-Tarik is now married and the proud father of 15-year old Jakiyah, 6 year  old Imani, 3 year old Masaida, and 2 year old son, Allin.

In his spare time he is a lyrically inclined musician in 2010 he co-founded Stop Shootin' Music, a Non Profit music marketing campaign that uses music to assist in reversing the trend of Senseless Gun Violence.


Alfred Dill

The scholar, father, producer, songwriter, and performer known as “PIKA$O” was born Alfred Dill in Newark New Jersey. His journey in academics and the performing arts expands with the galaxy. He was birthed by Pamela Dill a single parent mother that worked hard to provide for her son and send him to good schools. His academic and performance arts journey started at the Newark Boys Chorus School a performing arts school which he attended from 4th to 8th grade. While at the choir school he learned music theory, piano lesson , and vocal lessons as well as an advanced curriculum. He traveled to Australia , New Zealand , and across the United States singing and performing at concert halls, opera houses, churches and stadiums. After graduating he attended Arts High School where he continued his academic pursuits and musical training. While at Arts high school he was very active in student activities and formulated a production company where he produced and wrote songs for aspiring artist. He began to focus on his career in the music industry, while in the 10th grade he got his big bre
