I wrote this song with Malcolm Brooks from Barbara Gagel's story about her connection with Jack Kerouac and his book "Visions of Gerard" as the culminating piece in a performance at her show "The Divine and Perfect Ecstasy" for Lowell Celebrates Kerouac 2013.

Pedal Play

I wrote this song from the stories shared by the sons and daughters of immigrants who came to Lowell in search of work in the early 1900s. These men and women followed their parents in the factories of Lowell, where they worked for decades of their lives. Their experiences and their words can be heard in the lyrics of this song.

Better Off With The Union

I wrote this song from Paul Hervieux's stories, which he shared in interviews conducted in the 1980s with the last generation of men and women to work in the factories of Lowell. You can hear his story if you visit the Boott Cotton Mill Museum. These interviews were combined to create a documentary called The Workers Remember, but you can watch the shorter pieces created for the exhibit on the 2nd floor of the Boott on televisions. They are quite moving and inspired this and other songs I have written since moving to Lowell, MA.

You Are The Lucky One

I wrote this song from a woman's story who was the sole member of her family to survive the Holocaust. It is a song of suffering, survival, and hope. It is the Story-to-Song of Anja Legerstee's journey.
