We don't typically shell out the 'tastemaker' label very option - it's designated for the very select few who do the term justice but for us, Fish & Sherry S certainly fit into this bracket. Evidenced by their explosive, multi-genre Redbull Choice Mix and blockbuster Boomtown '17 set, the pairing have built an incredibly prestigious reputation across their sets and flourishing production careers. Now, they're focusing on their own label, Cocobolo Sound. Their first official release came from UK Bass don Pharaoh K, and now they've linked Notts micman Rame with one of our favourite producers, Fork and Knife, for a supreme Grime/UK Funky hybrid, fusing the best of both timeless genres on 'Test Me'. This one takes heads.

Here he returns here for a metallic rumbler entitled 'Technotronic', which most certainly packs a hell of a punch. At Southpoint, we are proud to represent so many different areas of underground UK dance music, with so many different elements now being thrown into the melting pot. The label's roots lay in grime, however, which is why we are so happy to be welcoming a brand new Brighton-based grime producer who goes by he name of El-Laurie. He arrives with a tailslide as we unveil a war-ready creation by the name of 'Foot Soldier'. It's a fantastic introduction to the team as El Laurie perfectly fuses the swampy bass textures of new school dubstep with raucous reese bass leads and super choppy drum textures, unleashing some serious energy into the dance.

One of the main contributors to 1Forty’s Grime and Dubstep discography is Fork And Knife. This time around the absence of his signature frantic drums is probably the first thing that springs to mind on ‘Reptar’, completely flipping the script on this occasion with a mutant style bass showcasing his mammoth sound design.

Recently moving to Bristol (another one), away from the capital, Fork And Knife has carved out a sound that pays homage to the underground scenes that have shaped him as a person over the past decade. Spreading his wings throughout Grime, Garage and Dubstep he’s applied techniques from producing different genres over the years with the result being unique structures with injections of sharp sound design using square wave basses and an often frantic yet stellar selection of drums. It’s not hard to understand why his sound is so original with 10 years of production under his belt.

Fork And Knife made his debut on the label with a giveaway ‘Real Monsters’ in 2018 which gathered support from the likes of Toddla T on BBC Radio 1, and its follow up ‘Real Monsters VIP’ for the ‘2 Years Of 1Forty’ Release, the latter the following summer. The end of 2019 saw a triple header producing Killa P’s ‘They Don’t Know’ and collaborating with 9TRANE for ‘Check It’ both on 1FGRM004 before another Single with Grime’s youngest prodigy SBK for ‘Bars’. This latest production is his first appearance in just over 12 months but still in time to make it a 3rd consecutive year on the label.
