We are delighted to welcome ADJ back with his new live set with unreleased and forthcoming stuff after his acclaimed DJ set as part of our podcast series.

Which artists has influenced you the most? 

- It's really hard to say one artist who has influenced me the most as I've been playing for nearly 40 years and producing for 30 years so I will name a few of the biggest, not just for the music but the whole ethos.
My first influences in the 80's were people like RYUICHI SAKAMOTO, KRAFTWERK, GEORGE CLINTON, HASHIM, JAMES BROWN, UNKNOWN DJ, CYBOTRON/MODEL 500, a real mixture of funk and electro/hip hop. Then into the 90's definetly MIKE BANKS/UR for his/their whole ethos of faceless artists and djs who were not interested in fame but more about just spreading the sounds of the streets and underground parties.  
And artists like WEE DJS, CARL FINLOW, BITSTREAM/ADAPTA, BEN MILSTEIN, BOLA, PLAID, KHAN/AIR LIQUIDE Crew, PHOENICIA, SI BEGG, ANDREA PARKER.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- So as always there are lots of projects ongoing and recent stuff like my Renegade Transmission vinyl ep just released on SERENITY IN KEOS, our latest Pyramid Transmissions releases Alien Transmissions Vol 3 and J FRANK album this month.
I have just finished 2 remixes, one for PAUL HEIROPHANT for release on vinyl and one for Potential Differense due for release digitally and remixed one of my favourite artists in ADRIEN D'ELZIUS recently.
In Jan/Feb 24 the next release on PT will be the long awaited 2nd ADJ/PATHIC release on vinyl and in December I will re release my Bass, Blips and Other Dimensions LP with extra new tracks. This album was released nearly 15 years ago on PIP WILLIAMS' Shameless Toady label. I feel the IDM/Electro sound of the album was a bit out of it's time so I think it's time to let a new generation hear it. There is a whole lot more coming in '24 so keep your ears open and this live set gives a glimpse of some of my recent work, finished and unfinished!

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- I think there are a lot of great artists now, although you have to sort through a ton of generic music to find them. Artists like FLECK ESC, ISOLATED MATERIAL, CTRLS, SIGMA ALGEBRA, LECTRO COD E, J FRANK, ROEL FUNCKEN, SYRTE, BEN PEST, ADRIEN D'ELZIUS, HEXALYNE, GAMMA INTEL, HATCH, ERRORBEAUTY, POLADROID are all doing some really FRESH sounds and there are so many more great new and established artists out there doing amazing, forward thinking stuff. There's lots of labels releasing Dope material like SCIENCE CULT, WOODWORK, ANALOGICAL FORCE, MIND CONTROLLED RECTIFIER, ARKADA, PATTERNED MEDIA, MECHATRONICA our own PYRAMID TRANSMISSIONS to name a few. 

What inspires you now to create music?

- I suppose same as always man, my music is my rebellion to the main stream and the system, a lot of new people in the scene don't understand this yet, back in the day we had to fight to get this music heard, illegal raves, pirate radio stations, getting chased by police just to get this music out there, I still feel that street edge in everything I do.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- My studio nowadays is a mixture of some of my old analogue loves 808, 303, Teisco 110f monster synth (1979 made by ARP) and some newer pieces like Elektron Digitakt, Analogue Overdrive and Korg Monotron delay. I also use VST's for more synth and sound effects.
I really like to change things up, like some trax will have Digitakt/808 or Battery Drums/Digitakt or 808 and VST Drum synths etc. This way the beats always sound different for each track and the sounds are always fresh (I hope). I think variety is the spice of life, i make many styles and never try to sound like anyone else. That is most important to me, having my own style and sound, no matter what sounds i'm making.

SBDM Premiere: Larionov - We Came To Dance [Electro Music Coalition]

Gladio Operations label presents its ninth release, with volume 2 of the Split Machine series, which this time features two new and recognised faces on the European and American electro scene.

One of these new faces is producer Noamm. This Greek artist, who has releases on such respected labels as Bass Agenda and Fundamental Records, opens the EP with "Clone Machine" and "Scientific Technological Device", two excellent rough and pragmatic tracks which link perfectly with “Verruckter Wissenschaftler”. The latter track, a fast-paced cut impregnated with tasty dark textures, perfectly defines the talent of the Hellenic producer.

The B-side bears the signature of Brice Kelly, who also debuts on Gladio Operations and gifts us three fantastic, enveloping, and melodic tracks. The American producer kicks off with “Beings of Alpha”, a deep and very well-constructed journey that gives way to “If You Don't Think Like Us”.
We really like it, even more so if it is accompanied by an elegant vocoder and enigmatic strings. Lastly, we arrive at “Powers That Be”, the closing track of the album, where we can perceive a cut of aggressive bass lines and gloomy textures, well aligned with well-chosen robotic vocals.

SBDM Premiere: NOAMM "SCIENTIFIC TECHNOLOGICAL DEVICE" [Gladio Operations]

We are thrilled to announce that the heroes of electro scene duo Human Rebellion return to our airwaves with a very unusual set for themselves with a bias towards the techno side.

Human Rebellion is a project based on a vision of a dystopian world where humans are in resistance against a global empire that has taken control.
Totally dedicated to a powerful and energetic electro-techno based on futuristic sounds straight out of their analog and modular synthesizers. They have been working under various pseudonyms for the last 25 years and signed their first vinyls in the early 2000s before coming back to their favorite style, Kraftwerk’s electro and everything that followed.

Which artists has influence you the most?

- There are a multitude of artists from different worlds who have influenced us. New Order, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Telex, Jean - Michel Jarre and many others, but as Belgians, what really got us into electronic music was the 'belgian newbeat' towards the end of the 80s (Amnesia, Lord of acid etc...) then T99 by Olivier Abbeloos in 1990, as well as the unforgettable tracks by D-shake, Frank De Wulf, Joey Beltram and generally the R&S label. Around '93, it was Richie Hawtin's DJ performances that really influenced us.
Patrick is more melodic and deep, with Mad Mike, Carl Craig, Dan Curtin, Juan Atkins, Claude Young, Drexciya, Suburban Knight, UR, Red Planet, Metamorphic, Planet E, Metroplex and many others as his main influences... Charles's influences are more European peak time techno and acid techno such as Luke Slater, Mike Dread, Dave Clarke, Aphex Twin, Leo Anibaldi, Woody McBride and the labels Peacefrog, Djax-up-beat, Rephlex, Warp, Generator, ACV, Soma, +8, but also Detroit techno, Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and his Hardwax label.
The 2000s saw the arrival of Vitalic, Anthony Rother and The Hacker, as well as break influences such as Prodigy, Plump Dj's, Dj Hooligans and General Midi, to name a few.

What new projects/Releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- There are height new EPs (12") coming out in 2024 on labels we like, including excellent remixes by The Exaltics, Sync 24, Nite Fleit, Dj Stingray, Co-accused and others. Listeners can hear several of them exclusively in our dj set.

What inspires you now to create music?

- We like to think of ourselves as living in a simulation, a kind of matrix. That inspires us and gives us a lot of ideas. Then we think there are also things to say about AI, transhumanism and so on. These are worrying times in many ways, but also quite exciting in others.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- We mainly use hardware to create our sequences, analog synths and eurorack modulars. We use ableton live to format and finalize our mixes.

What do you think of the current electro scene?

- We don't think the electro scene as a whole is peak time enough, it's often just music to listen to at home. Of course, there are a lot of good productions out there, but they don't necessarily make you want to move, which generally makes electro difficult to play at parties.
For our part, we like to try and move in this direction, to make electro a little more peak time, so that we can alternate electro and techno in a set without it being shocking.

SBDM Premiere: ATM - All Of Em (High Fidelity Remix) [Native Boundaries]

Jox Aduriz was born in Oiartzun, a small town very close to San Sebastian, Basque Country, 1977.
He lived almost all of his childhood and adolescence in the darkest and grayest time of his homeland for political reasons.
From a very young age he began to join the Punk scene and began to collect vinyl records.
At the end of the 90s he had his first contact with electronic music, especially Detroit Techno, and without leaving his roots behind, he began to mix very dark and acidic music with a lot of bass.
In 2001 he spent a long time in Amsterdam, participating in several raves and the famous Robodock festival.
He says he's not a DJ. Simply addicted to music and vinyl records.
He is enthusiastic about live music and appreciates, above all, in electronic music that it is noticeable that it mixes a person, not a machine, with the errors that this may entail. Perfection does not exist!
He currently lives in Barcelona and has recently started trying to achieve his own sound by producing.

MR GENTLE Is a DJ/producer from the East coast of the UK.
On the dance floor in the early days of Acid house & later spending many a night at clubs such as The Orbit & The End listening to artists such as Richie Hawtin, Cari Lekebusch, Jesper Dahlback, Alexi Delano & Joey Beltram with Fat Cat Records also being a big influence & inspiration to him.
Currently working on his first solo album & a side project with fellow collaborator Whak Bionic.
This mix is energy & dancefloor focused but I also listen to the more melodic side of Electro & particularly acid heavy tracks. I'm also liking the shift to more IDM influenced Electro.

Strange But Dance Music #150: MR GENTLE

A project by „X-Truder“ and „Nexus 23“.

This EP is a tribute to Nexus 23, an Artist, DJ and Music Producer as well as Joe Black, a good friend.

Soon after the first release, Leszek and Joe agreed that they should keep the X23 project alive and crack on with a second EP. They shared some ideas, samples and stems, frequently chat about how number 2 should sound like. But no tracks had ever been produced. When Leszek heard that Joe passed away he started digging through the samples from him and very soon he had 5 new amazing tracks done.

X23 are: Synthetic minds fused in time and space by robotic and chaotic forces permeating through dream and reality. A cybernetic dawn amongst the urban rubble and rust. Be prepared to receive a high dose of energy coming out of the speakers. Noisy, distorted and electromechanical wall crushing beats.

“X-Truder“ with real name Leszek Romaniak is born and raised up in Poland. Now he’s living in the UK since 2006. He’s always been into music, as long as its good music. As a teenager he liked Rap, Graffiti and Breakdance but the electronic music became his passion. Once he listened to a Love Parade Compilation in 1999 he found out what Techno and Chris Liberator Acid Techno is and all the Hip Hop stuff was gone. In that very moment he said to himself: „I want to do this too!“

„Nexus 23“ was the brainchild of London based producer Joe Black who has passed away last year. With a history of playing bass guitar in bands, Joe spent the late 90’s DJing drum and bass in local Oxford house parties. Eventually Joe made the switch into electronic music, which is a childhood passion of his. Joe brings his bass heavy, industrial influenced electro back to Battery Park Studio for his second release after the LP “Synth Knobs and Boomsticks”. Guaranteed to rattle your rib cage and set the dance floor alight.

We are thrilled to anounce a true electronic poem created by Roel Funcken, who needs no introduction.
Roel's music is advanced in sound design, often incorporating unique experimentation in electronic sound, with cut-up, twisted, atmospheric sonic soundscapes, leaving the cranium always begging for more. His ambient textures maintain a cinematic quality throughout, while his percussive arrangements retain a constantly mutating framework, always reconstructing its rhythm and structure, contradicting complex configurations and minimal design. It's always a pleasure to taste the latest treat from this aural engineer, and find the latest gem in his never-ending arsenal of sound.

Strange But Dance Music #152: VDTKK

The musical intent of the Grenoble-based artist Binary Digit is rooted in an undefined style that sits at the crossroads between acid techno, braindance and electro. This results in a melodious whole together, with a touch of melancholy.
Through the use of magnetic tapes, outdated software and synthesizers, Binary Digit allows these diverse musical influences to melt into unique and overpowering sounds that never fail to arouse deep emotions.
After several albums released on Opal Tapes and Stochastic Releases, contributions on various compilations, and EPs dropped by Dream Ticket or Zeitnot, in 2021 Binary Digit launches his label Postal Code Records. Its first release, From Berriat To Pitteurs is the product of a brilliant collaboration with the Belgian producer Victor Ziegler - enough to make us crave to discover the exciting upcoming projects that the label has in store for us.

Which artist has influenced you the most?

- It's hard to pick one, but to narrow it down roughly I'll pick "AFX" on "Analord 9".


What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- Some releases from mine as well as other artists are to be expected soon on my tape label Postal Code Records. I also got a few singles coming on some cool labels, stay tuned !


Which artists/labels are more relevant to you now?

- I could say labels like WeMe, Clone, Stilleben or many that have a consistent output over decades. It's to hard to pick just a few favorites =/


What inspires you now to create music?

- Computers, boredom and sleep deprivation.

We are thrilled to anounce a typical EKATA mix that goes on a bit of a journey. It has many styles of Electro with abit of 4x4 thrown in for good measure! This is a pretty driving mix from the beginning and will be sure to make people want to dance! It also features one of the tracks from her solo release on Censor Records.

EKATA is a London based DJ/Producer + Natural Selection Resident who's productions are characterised by their dark and atmospheric soundscapes, driven by pulsating rhythms and intricate synth work.
Determined to create music that is unearthly, idiosyncratic and exuding futurism of that of a sci-fi film, she always ensures a story is to be told in each track she produces.
She mainly sticks to the dark and eerie side of Electro/Techno in her productions & gigs, where she will take you on a dark and twisted journey through incredibly dystopian, ominous grooves and obvious sci-fi fixations which embody her carefully picked selections.

SBDM Premiere: 6SISS "Non Metric" [Diffuse Reality]

Today we present "Machine Ethics", a project that usually prefers to remain anonymous. 

Machine Ethics's music is mainly influenced by modern electro artists such as w1b0 or Umwelt but his root influences go much more into both depth and width. Machine Ethics listened to EBM, Industrial and Electro Industrial for a long time before being hooked with modern Electro and IDM.
Andrew Weatherall and all his projects like "Two Lone Swordsmen" as well as Transparent Sound and Plaid has also become a huge electronic influence.
When Machine Ethics is not listening to electronic or industrial music, he prefers "rebooting his system" with Stoner Rock, Folk and Post Punk / Goth Rock.
He bought his first synthesizer and drum computer in 1999, a Yamaha SY 77 and a Boss DR202, starting to experiment with them using Cubase and to record (mostly industrial) stuff that he'll also keep anonymous. However, in 2008, he got on a very antimaterialistic trip while moving from Berlin to Leipzig, sold all his gear and just kept his acoustic guitar.

In 2020, he has decided to start Electro Project, embracing todays possibilities of producing and distributing.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- There are some promising collaborations that might evolve in the future with Lectromagnetique, Ufaze / Slow Process and there are some plans to also work with singers to get some decent vocals in.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- Hard to say....I'll always admire w1b0's music. I totally dig the melodies and structures that Captain Mustache creates....I'm a Bass Agenda supporter because it has become kind of a 
turning wheel in todays electro....but there are so much more...for example Body Musick from Colombia tickles my rusty EBM and Industrial nerves... 

What inspires you now to create music?

- My inner drive to create - especially music. Someone said once that music is the best paintress for emotions. And also you get a lot about the character of the person when you listen to the music, especially the more it gets out of genre conventions. For example Hardenberg from Cyber Domain - he's a very funny and quirky guy and you hear that also in his music.

Today we have BS-1 from Netherlands with his amazing live set.
Dark, raw and industrial. These three words describe the sound of BS-1. Supported by the biggest names in the underground electronic music scene like DJ Stingray 313, Alienata, Dave Clarke and Helena Hauff who featured The Only Exit in her BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix 2017 mix of the year.
With releases on Marguerita Recordings and Discos Atónicos and performances in Berlin’s Griessmuehle and Berghain his upward trajectory in industrial electronic will only continue to rise.

Which artist has influenced you the most?

- I have numerous of inspirations over the years but at the moment I hear in my more recent tracks the echoes of Front 242 and other early industrial/EBM bands.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- At the moment a friend and I are putting the finishing touch on a dark ambient album which will be released later in 2024. The project is called 'Moons Ov Mars' so keep your eye on that.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- Author & Punisher is an artist I really admire at the moment. He really knows how to blend dark and harsh industrial music with metal. I've seen him live a couple of times and seeing him handling his home made controllers (which are awesome!) is a treat. If you haven't heard of him, check him out.

What inspires you now to create music?

- The urge to broaden my horizon, to learn and explore. Not trying to be stuck in proven formulas or to imitate.

Man of the shadows, Laurent Debraz is responsible for the visual universe of Belgium's underground since the last 30 years.

From the Strictly Underground page in OutSoon Magazine back in the nineties and the iconic D-Jacking Zone cartoons to the radical imagery of the Enjoy Apocalypse parties that will cost him a lifelong ban from entering the United States, he also designed covert art for labels such as Radikal Fear and Roulette Rekordz. From Absorbia's psychedelic drawings to the provocations of EA and the coded flyers of La Secte, he always remained true to the pirate spirit and it's an honor for Roulette to release his EP today.

5 tracks full of sinister vocoders and old school basslines that will bring you back on the foggy dancefloor of Eliane's boat. Electronic veteran Fhex is offering a beautiful electrowave remix, typical of that era's sound.

As our next episode we meet again an artiste from Los Angeles Interdimensional Warlock (Digital Distortions, Diffuse Reality, Control Data Institute) - is the unapologetically strange, other-worldly electro pseudonym of musical-interest-multiple-personality-disorder (MIMPD) sufferer and producer/DJ 'Scott Charles Findley' (Nordic Trax, Fiji, Iron Box, Infinite Jazz) a humanoid, with deep roots in a wide variety of hyper-dimensional dance music.

Which artists has influenced you the most? 

- I get inspiration from lots of different places, t have nothing to do with electro.. everything from jazz fusion, groovy deep house to indy rock and classical. I love all types of music, truly. In the electrosphere: Dopplereffekt, Wee DJs, Carl Finlow aka Silicon Scally, Fleck ESC, Bass Junkie, Maelstrom, to name just a few. Labels like Mechatronica, Brokntoys, Science Cult always 

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future? 

- Had to take a little time away from writing recently, but Ive been busy in the studio working on new material, Im glad to say. Currently on the schedule:  A cheeky remix for the great Squaric (Diffuse Reality Records) and an EP for my friends Digital Distortions, coming out in about a month or so.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now? 

- One of my favorite thing about electro is that its futuristic-dystopian sound is immune to passing trends in music. Much of the earliest electro is as relevant (or more so) today as it was the moment it was made. Despite being made 30 years ago, by decidedly non-futuristic means, electro still captures that essence of 'the future' in a way thats unique to the genre.

Some standouts for me: Dopplereffekt, Wee DJs, Carl Finlow aka Silicon Scally, Fleck ESC, Bass Junkie, Maelstrom, and labels like labels like Mechatronica, Brokntoys, Science Cult, never dissapoint and have vast back-catalogs of incredible, lasting music that stands the test of time. Impossible to name them all, there are so many!

What inspires you now to create music? 

- Oh man, what doesnt.. Haha. I think, just, living, really. Joy, pain, anger, ecstasy, love, lust, desire, fear, sorrow.. Emotion, in general. Sometimes this happens in a very direct way, other times its not so clear, and Im just making something because, I think it sounds dope! In either case, The act of sitting down and creating something and getting into the sometimes elusive creative flow state is one of life's simplest pleasures, regardless of whatever compells you to enter it.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- I've bounced back and forth between elaborate setups with lots of synths and outboard gear and totally minimal setups, and Ive found that almost always, less is more. Ive got only one synth, an Arturia Poly Brute, as my kind of centerpiece and sound-design workhorse, and a couple of outboard bits, but my setup is nearly entirely in-the-box and pretty bog-standard stuff. I do quite a bit of creative sampling as the foundation for my sound design, alongside tools like like Reaktor, Max MSP, Softube Modular to take me to weirder places.

As sexy as a room full of bespoke, vintage gear may be, for me, its all about efficiency and workflow, and keeping it tight takes me where I want to go faster than noodling around with expensive modular gears.. Its all a very individual and personal thing, and theres no 'right' way, if it gets whats in your head into something tangible, and DONE.

Ruksby is a musical project of one man from Moscow, producer and DJ Alexander Klygin. He is adept at acid music and focuses on both the dark side of the musical spectrum and the synthetic genre of the 80s. As a DJ, Ruksby  is absolutely not limited by stylistic boundaries, but he gives special preference to EBM, Dark Disco, New Beat, Synthwave, Electro. Ruksby already has releases on labels such as Moleskine Records, HEARec, Fill-Lex Records, Hypnotic Connection, Khoinix, Nein Records, Quixotical Records, Bonkers Records, Slap It Records, and others.

Which artists has influenced you the most? 

- The biggest influence on me was of course my friend volta cab/rambal cochet, I guess you might say he forced me to start producing music. And in terms of sound a lot of people are impressive, and all a little bit at a time, of course I try not to dwell on one, and I am in a constant stream of new music and new artists.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future? 

-  In the near future is expect to a couple of my remixes, as well as participation in compilations and a small EP with a couple remixes already on me, further will be more.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now? 

- Now I don't emphasize on any labels, I try to follow the artists who are close to me by sound, don't want to offend anyone and don't want to write a long list, but basically it's all my subscriptions))

What inspires you now to create music? 

- I get inspiration solely from my mood and strength, as it is sometimes difficult to find time, but if there is a task or a deadline, the strength is quickly found))

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- My setup is exclusively Daw (Reason 11 Suite) and sometimes I can prescribe bass or lead on TD3, as almost any of my track has the famous acid bump.

Sigma_ALgebra is a project that was born more than 10 years ago. The original idea of this project was based on having a good time and enjoying the creation of music that does not set boundaries or rules in its composition. The learning process has been sculpting a style that aims to stretch the electro style and sometimes to the borders of IDM.

Which artists has influenced you the most? 

- The artists that have influenced me the most are Boards of Canada, Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, Plastikman, Autechre, Plaid among others. Also, from rock music, Ten years after, Led Zepelin, Allman brothers or Frank Zappa.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future? 

- I am currently involved in several projects. I will participate in a multi-artist campaign on the Urban Concetions label dedicated to artists producing in the south of Spain. Additionally, I am involved in a split of artists from the Arkada label. I have a future project on the Tensor Norm label to produce another varied artist. I'm finally making a new ep with no label so far.

Which labels is more relevant to you now? 

- On my opinion, and always related with my own taste, Pyramid transmissions, Arkada, ,Science Cult, Brokntoys, Mechatronica, Digital Distortions and the Spanish labels Mikron records, Analogical Force and Urban Connections. 
Nowadays, the most relevant artist for me are Karsten Pflum, Noumen, Ben Pest, Anodyne, ADJ, among others.

What inspires you now to create music? 

- Knowing that perhaps there is an audience that may be somewhat interested in my music and on the other hand contribute and feed the electro and IDM scene.

What set-up do you use when creating music? 

- When I create music, I usually use two Elektron devices (Analog Rythm MKII and Octatrack MKII), Roland TB3 and finally Korg Monologue with some plugins of Arturia.

We are extremely pleased to introduce today's guest, who definitely needs no introduction.

Depending on how your mind is fixed, you may process Second Storey's unique brand of electronic music as a physical, energetic kind of rave music, or you could find yourself postulating on the dense intricacies that his sonic life-forms contain. Such is the dualistic nature of the Berlin based producer. Second Storey, the life’s work of Alec Storey, was born out of the vibrant free-party scene of Norfolk (also the launch pad for the infamous Bloc Weekender), and those roots in bass-heavy techno reverberate throughout his tracks, but this isn’t simple soundsystem fodder. If there was one defining quality to Al’s craft, it would be funk; the kind of crazed, psychedelic, booty-shaking gospel as laid down by Parliament in the ‘70s. The same sound that re-manifested itself throughout the decades as the electro backbone of early hiphop in the ‘80s, the aquatic machinations of Drexciya in the ‘90s, and even on to the omni-limbed freakouts of Autechre et al. Al represents the next logical distillation of these principles, speaking his own dialect of hip-wiggling astral transcendence parallel with the contemporary bass music landscape in the dubstep aftermath, but never quite adhering to it.
The musical make-up of Second Storey, his collaborations with Appleblim, and the numerous projects fore and aft, continue to feed into a thrillingly singular body of work. Much like the energy that crackles around the man-machine when in a fit of drum pad bashing on stage, the alien transmissions that beam out of him are an irrepressible beast, boasting the kilojoules to land in all sorts of unpredictable places.

- Drexciya, Cristian Vogel, Ed Rush & Optical, Autechre, Aphex Twin, Prince.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- There’s a new EP coming out on Ara-U’s label  “No Static Automatic’ later this year. I’ve also got some new collaborative projects on the way, alongside a bunch of solo stuff I’m in the final stages of finishing.

- Fear of Berlin crows at dawn.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- I use a Laptop, Ableton Push, Elektron Syntakt, Elektron Machine Drum and Roland SPD-SX.

Strange But Dance Music #158: Second Storey

Originally from Paris, SOD-90 started producing alongside his studies as a flutist at the renewed university of classical music from Berlin.
Combining his knowledge from a wide range of musical backgrounds with his experience as a professional instrumentalist, he crafted an intense sound, characterized by noisy textures, scorching synth lines, with distorted drums and twisted vocals. All this added to complex and dynamic arrangements.

After only a few years since he started producing, SOD-90 has already been supported by some of the biggest names on the scene and has released on Avoidant, Bipolar Disorder records, Emotional Voyage, with more in the pipeline very soon.
He intends to continue exploring creative approaches to production, aiming to evolve his style towards an increasingly powerful and unconventional aesthetic.

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- Container, Legowelt, L.F.T., Le Syndicat Electronique, DMX Crew and many more. Outside from the club music territory I’ve been influenced by artists in the likes of Rage against the machine, Portishead, Volition Immanent, The Prodigy, Dope Dod, Deli Girls, Sextile.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future? 

- I have some releases planned on VA compilations in the coming months, including one on Co-Accused Records, featuring my track 'Saving Up for Botox', which I close my set with. I'm also excited to release more podcasts; the next one is planned on the massive imprint Bipolar Disorder rec.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- My favorite labels at the moment are Zement, Mechatronica, Lifeforms, Libertine records and Avoidant to only name a few. 

What inspires you now to create music?

- Anger, clubbing, synthesizers, my loved ones, melancholy, discovering new artists, city lights, dogs

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- I mainly produce using hardware, including analog synthesizers and drum machines. 
I use gear from Analogue Solutions, Jomox, Behringer, JMT Synth, Korg, Malekko, Herbs&Stones and a bunch of vintage mixers and effect devices.

Today we are insanely happy to present a fantastic and an amazing set by Steve Shears, the musician hiding under the name Interweave Electronics Aka Interweave Harmonic. We have been following his work for quite a long time and now we have the opportunity to share his exclusive set with unreleased material.

There's no information of you at all. Please tell us how you started your journey as a musician.

- I'm a hobbiest musician and been following electronic music since the late 1970s but never had much time to devote myself. Im not affiliated to any label as i usually self publish. I started writing electronic music in around 1990 (with a roland w30 workstation) because 80s Detroit never died for me and felt I could keep the flame burning. Musical ideas from the likes of UR, Drexciya, Derrick May, Car Craig, etc had a huge effect. And before that I was into 2 tone, Dub. Numan and Bowie. Everyone else is or has been doing 4/4 but electro offers many other sonic avenues because 4/4 is such a driving force it almost controls and dictates the track. So you mentally approach the music differently. Electro doesn't do that with the same vigour. You can if course think of staccato sequences with a robotic sound but you can just as easy hit one note off a monosynth or play a sample and let that seep in and muscially bounce off that. I like to explore those musical concepts. And that's only one such concept. You might instead have a vison or a feeling which is a very Detroit idea anyway. And people that live in similar areas are inspired.the same way but if they dont theyre inspired in different ways. So.i uae electro as that "concept conduit". I don't always write the more robotic stuff as there's plenty of fantastic people doing that and it's easy to sound similar but if a mono sequence has that edge ill use it. However my guess is you've got to be careful not to stray too far. And at any rate evolution takes time else you risk abrupt changes that lose people. But at the same time if I feel something works then I'll "blueprint" it and get it out there on soundcloud for responses and (eventually) self publish.

- Mike Banks, Dave Clarke, Wendy Carlos, Ed Handley/Andy Turner, Richard D. James

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- Generated Living LP due next followed by the “In Parts” LP which is more of a Detroitan' electro soul collection and features some of my personal favourite tracks. Finally I intend to release these MX series tracks as part of 2 or 3 LPs – they’ll need another mixing pass but I actually had a ton of melodies, beats, etc written for this so I’ll get around to doing something with them. Maybe a compo.  All on Bandcamp.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- I’m not really up with current electro labels but I listen to a bit on Clone, Frustrated Funk and Cultivated Electronics.
Theres some great stuff being put out. Finlow, DVS NME, Orlando Voorn, and of course Anthony Rother. I love artists that evoke spacey atmospheres, hard energy, hauntology and weird stuff too so Mordant, Avian and Ghostbox. But i'm a bit eccentric in my tastes.

What inspires you now to create music? 

- I'm inspired by Science fiction concepts and I live in Croydon, which like some parts of London has a bit of an edge so that tends to filter in. 
I’m also big into the fact the corporations are seemingly using AI to delete people from their roles and I sometimes communicate that. I'm interested in the ideas of AI being put into machines and where that goes and also as to whether our goverments can even control it any more.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- Matrixbrute, Minilogue XD, Behringer Boog and Neutron and various VSTS (Mostly Arturia and UHE).

Strange But Dance Music LIVE #24: Interweave Electronics

Andreas started djing in 1995, creating mix tapes and playing drum and bass in Philadelphia's underground rave scene from 1997 to 2000 under the moniker "Tygre." Inspired by the darker sounds of electro, techno and drum and bass Tygre returns from a long hiatus to share his love for the music and art of mixing. Andreas currently resides in San Francisco and studies computer science.
In this mix, dark and stormy electro twists through a landscape of distorted bass and resolves in a post vortex calm.

We are pleased a track LLLIT "Eco Space (Eden Grey Remix)" from EP "Broken Abst".

LLLIT is a beacon in the darkness, blending profound electronic sounds with visceral and mental improvisation, creating sonic landscapes that transport you to unknown dimensions.

LLLIT is a Chilean multi-talented artist who thrives on collaboration and introducing new sounds to his own label. We resonated with such a character, leading us to follow his model by hosting an incredible roster of remixers ; Autotel from LLLIT's team and LAMEBOT, whom we first met on Mei's remix album Aqua Ghoul, are new additions to our roster. Dib (also known as Deeb) and Eden Grey, who both released with us in 2023, are also part of our team.

Broken Abst

SBDM Premiere: LLLIT "Eco Space (Eden Grey Remix)" [EC Underground]

UHF is a Spanish electro duo, founded by Milford aka José Castillo and David Aragón. 
They are an old school djs, highly respected in the Madrid electronic scene, and undoubtedly influenced by New Beat, EBM, Synth-Pop and the Detroit sounds.

As producers begins in 2014, releasing their first single called "Breakers Life", included in the compilation Madrid City Breakers. A tribute to the group of breakdancers from Madrid in the late 80's, captured in a cult double ep, with tracks by Boris Divider, E.R.P and Luke Eargoggle among other artists and released on Gladio Operations who, later on, would also become partners of the label.

They have also released on labels such as HC Records, Noise To Meet You, Distrito 91and Borg Recordings among others.

Strange But Dance Music #161: UHF

The 15th vinyl episode from ELECTRO MUSIC COALITION is presenting Serge Geyzel,a label team member, previously known for releases on Mechatronica, New Flesh, Brokntoys, Science Cult, Diffuse Reality. 
„Memorize EP“ delivers three tracks of analog action by the producer himself and ends with a breakbeat-electro remix of the title track by the Colombian wizard of the genre- Dagga.

The opening theme of „Memorize“ absorbs pure break-kicks. At first, it is accompanied by a synth saw scraping and a filtered voice, but after the second break, a cold mysterious lead enters, giving a clear outline to the mood of the composition. The sub bass drone and space noises finally define the track‘s character with its gloomy adjectives.

„Take Your Time“ begins with sharp breaks and percussion, which are later joined by showering sequences of acid. 
At the beginning it may seem like the music will be continuing the outer space line of darkness of the opening track . However the appearance of the bass patterns later creates a brighter harmony, yet maintaining the overall minor vibe of the tune .
The LP continues with 
„Oskolki“, a composition written in the sense of minimalism. Darkness of low frequencies, a staccato synth melody, a heavy beat complemented by syncopated drops of percussion ,and the overall rigorous arrangement sum up to a devastating musical composition.

The record ends, as mentioned above, with a four-minute breakbeat-electro remix by Dagga. The supersonic bass finds the perfect balance with the syncopations and massive groove of the rapid drum part, creating an energetic and driving banger that can knock any door off its hinges. 

To summarize, the vinyl can be called a monolithic structure, pulling you into the depths of darkside-electro aesthetics. 
Serge Geyzel‘s fans will find in here what made them fall in love with his music, so buying this vinyl  you can be sure — it‘s going to stay in your recordbag for a long time!

SBDM Premiere: Serge Geyzel "Memorize" [Electro Music Coalition]

We welcome our next guest. Berwick is a Sheffield by Bristol DJ and producer focused on esoteric, rave-infused sounds encompassing a dance floor and environments that have inspired his music. His style runs through various BPMs and blends ambience and bliss into sharp electro, techno and breaks. Berwick is the co-founder of INDECENCY, a DIY party that hosts live electronic acts and DJs. With a release on SSS records getting support from Bambounou, Solid Blake, Lena Willikens, Anastasia Kristensen and many more high-calibre artists, Berwick is lining up for more sharp electro releases later on in the year. Berwick’s recent release on More Cowbell has had support from Blumitsu, Lena Willikens and Re:ni whilst also getting premiered by Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 6. His latest project brings drum machines and a modular synth together to create an hour of fun-fuelled electro and techno with wobbly, acid lines and hard percussion that keep crowds moving.

Which artists has influenced you the most? 

- I’ve taken a lot of influence across a range of different genres to be honest. My sound and production style has an analog, electro tinge which I think has been guided by some magnificent artists like Radioactive Man, Surgeons Girl, Machine Woman, Karenn, Neil Landstrumm, Barker and so many others, I could really go on and on.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future? 

- I’ve got two releases set to come out from September onwards which I’m really excited about. The two tracks are a bit of a different style for me but I’m really happy with how they have turned out and the labels and artists I’ll be alongside are artists I find really inspiring. My main focus at the moment is my live set. I’ll be debuting it on Rinse FM really soon and the taking off to a few festivals in the UK.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now? 

- There’s some incredible labels that I’ve been digging into recently but to be honest I’m still so addicted to bbbbbb, Voam, Fever Am and Kalahari Oyster Cult. My goal is to work up to potentially releasing on one of these in the near future!

What inspires you now to create music? 

- Sooo many inspirations, being out in nature is probably one of the biggest for me. If I can find time throughout the week to walk, run or swim then I know it’s like a creative boost/reset for me. Equally gigs and festivals. Seeing other people shine and create an atmosphere is incredibly inspiring and usually after being in something like that I’m straight into the studio and creating sounds.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- Currently I’m using some Elektron gear, so I use the Analog Rytm, Syntakt and the Octatrack and then I have the modular system which is a wonderful sound design tool. I’ve been building up the modular synth for quite a while now and swapped quite a few things in and out but I think I’ve found a set up that really works for me. And of course Ableton, everything goes into Ableton but it’s also nice to spend a bit of time just in the DAW, I try and switch it up quite a bit and resample lots in Ableton.
