Beyond Synth - 89 - The Midnight

The musical project Sandcastle Day School only operates in difficult real world subject matter. 
Think of it as a soundtrack to an experimental true crime film too fucked up for most people to want to make.
The new release(the second for the project) Im working on revolves around the unsettling case of Sol Pais; a young woman from Florida who suffered from severe mental illness. She had an extreme nostalgia complex where she felt lost in her own time but somewhere this took a very dark turn. Heavily interested in the 1990s, she became obsessed with the Columbine massacre and flew to Colorado on the anniversary of the infamous shooting with the ambiguous threat of potentially carrying out another shooting. 
Upon arrival Pais legally purchased a weapon. 
This resulted in the closure of over 150 Colorado schools and a massive manhunt. 
Her body was discovered the following morning with a self inflicted gunshot wound, which I theorize was her intention all along. 
This forthcoming album deals with her internal mental degradation up until her last moments through the use of ambient instrumental passages, experimental sound design and sampling from 90s media which she commonly indulged in; which was in many ways her only friend. Explore the ideas of whether Pais was simply a very damaged girl with no harm in her heart, simply crying out for her voice to be heard or indeed a villain after all. Also finding the properties of what it takes to make an already damaged person become one that is dangerous.
