I made this mixtape in 2010 in the studio/office of my boyfriend at the time, Peter. I was about to graduate, and my art-school peers were on paths into the creative arts; they made nice websites to showcase their portfolio. I was not particularly creative or artistic, nor did I have a portfolio. I somehow latched onto the idea that a mixtape will be an excellent addition to whatever hypothetical website I'd eventually create. (I was in that sort of back-to-front frame of mind.) I wanted to express a melancholy mood I'd often indulge by listening to these tunes.

The website never materialised, and the mixtape was never uploaded anywhere until now. I didn't get a job in the creative arts either – I somehow ended up working for Google. Peter and I also parted ways, and we haven't spoken in five years.
