The first song I've written and recorded for a solo EP I hope to do at some point called "Blues For The Red State". It'll be a collection of blues-influenced stuff with lyrics relating vaguely to communist/anarchist themes. This one features some really bad harmonica playing.

The Aging Anarchist

A song I've been playing with The Young Offenders for some time and never got around to recording. If we ever do finish it, it should be on our next album, "The Sad Punk", as a series of similar songs with stupidly simple lyrics and 2-3-note guitar riffs. In this recording, I just used drum loops and recorded the rest of the instruments myself. It's not the best quality, but it'll give you a pretty good idea of what the song's supposed to sound like.

Teenage Geeks From Outer Space (Rough Version)

A song I wrote, I seem to have this habit of writing songs with falsetto choruses as of late. The titular pun was inspired by a good bit of music criticism, a Bob Dylan review where the critic states (favourably): "If Dylan quit cigarettes to clean up his voice for 'Nashville Skyline', it sounded like he'd been sucking on exhaust pipes for 'Time Out Of Mind'!"

Exhaust Pipe (Rough Version)

I think this worked out better than I thought it might, I basically looped the intro from David Byrne and St. Vincent's "Lightning" and then added a short, slightly slowed-down sample from Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir". The timing was difficult, but I think it payed off.

Basically the same as "Kashmir Lightning Beat", but with a sample from Steely Dan's "Chain Lightning" added in. I think it worked pretty well, though that snare does sound a little awkward, wish there was a way to get rid of it...
