Nectax, a key member of the wave of talent currently rushing out of the Tyne is next to grace Guidance Music.

With a steady stream of top-drawer releases under his belt in the last couple of years, the young producer is firmly planting his flag in the sand under the category of seek and destroy. With influences ranging from Jungle’s early days right up to the current moment, Ollie Underhill is consistently coming with the heat and ‘The Villain EP’ is no exception.

Merely pressing play on title track ‘Villain’ drags you headfirst into the world of Nectax, it’s huge reese a fitting beginning for what’s to come in this huge statement opener.

‘Outlander’ sees Nectax teaming up with one of the linchpins of the Newcastle scene, as he locks horns with Tyrone for this big room roller, it’s trademark bass stabs and bustling congas hurrying the perfect DJ tool along

Next up, ‘Andromeda’ pits North East against North West, as Manchester talent SL8R steps in to join the party. Lush synth washes set the tone for a deep and musical outing, a perfect foil that shows the young producers' ability to turn their hand to any style they wish.

‘Treadstone’ wraps up the EP, it’s rolling drums paired tightly with ghostly vocal and talking mid bass making this a serious collection of tracks for a whole range of discerning Drum & Bass listeners.

it's a treat to see Flight back on the productions, this time alongside Battery. Rooted in dub, Overture rolls away with raw drums, a pumping sub and mystical atmospherics before the winding bassline creeps in. The second drop progresses into the darkness as things really get out of hand with that bassline. 

Yet another class release on Jubei's Carbon towards the end of an incredibly strong debut year.

Quadrant & Iris are finally back on CIA, with Seattle’s deadliest Drum & Bass duo returning to the fold for yet another master class in future funk. 
Their last foray on the label was actually already six years ago, and with only a handful of weighty and laser precise contributions to the scene in the interim, their return is both overdue and welcome in equal measure. 
A Quadrant & Iris release promises a heady mix of top-drawer production expertly interlaced with melancholy and depth. Their new ‘Double Path EP’ almost seems to reference this, each of the four compositions a twisted journey. 

‘Accurate’ is as it states, straight to the point and the most stripped of the four. ‘Double Path’ pairs scatter gun breaks with an acidic bass before dropping into deeper territory, whilst ‘Ambergris’ is almost like a deep dive into early 2000’s liquid, with ‘Sonder’ tidily wrapping up the package, 
The EP feels like a succinct melding of both artists dance music influences, with a range of bases touched upon, a nod to what inspires them. This is production mastery at it’s finest, so jump right into Quadrant & Iris’ Double Path world.

Kicking off the 25th Anniversary of CIA Records and also bringing in 2021 with
style and positivity is the always-versatile Zero T with his ‘MYWRLD EP’.
A firm favourite of the camp and an artist who has graced the label many times before, including his first artist album ‘Cheap Shots’ back in 2008, his ability to turn his hand to a wealth of styles is at once impressive and yet also inspiring.
The three tracks on the ‘MYWRLD EP’ instantly have a classic Zero T feel, with a wealth of classic Jungle and Hip Hop influences on show. They also highlight his ability to turn his hand to both retro and contemporary styles, with solid drum work of both ilks revealed here.
‘MY WRLD 4EVR’ is one for the floor with it’s rinsing breaks and chopped beats and is impressive in it’s nod to former times, and yet a totally modern feel. ‘One More Chance’ brings you right into 2021, musicality teamed with tight beats and fizzing bass, and the EP is closed out with ‘Radical Step’, a deep bassline roller tinged with that late night Jazz feel.

STRANJAH is a pioneering figure in the North American drum and bass scene, with a career spanning over two decades. He has solidified his position in the bass music world with seminal releases on Metalheadz, 31 Records and Renegade Hardware, and has recently worked with major labels such as Critical Music and Hospital Records.

STRANJAH's sound draws from a wide range of influences, making it difficult to label under one umbrella. However, his modern-day sound is characterized by expressive bass sounds, 90s synths, and syncopated drum beats. He has established himself as an influential figure in the music production community, with his new YouTube channel and label Deviant Audio, where he provides knowledge, tools, and resources to empower emerging artists and push the boundaries of electronic music.
