Marcel Fengler has been quoted as „one of the finest techno DJs“ (Resident Advisor), and has earned international respect for his „well-crafted body of production work“ (FACT) and introducing his unique and „multi-faceted personality“ (Electronic Beats).

Over the last two decades, Fengler developed a versatile and dynamic style of DJing that made him one of the first resident DJs of Berlin’s infamous Berghain / Panorama Bar in 2005. Fengler is capable of changing pace, atmosphere, and energy reacting to the mood on the dance floor: whether industrial-drenched hardness, broken beats, gloomy dubs or melodic and funky grooves – Fengler draws from a varied repertoire. His first singles were released on Ostgut Ton and Mote Evolver and his debut album „Fokus“ (2013), in particular, was a statement of intent, full of emotional and unexpected contrasts. To showcase his melodic groove, beat tracks and his straighter cuts, he founded his imprint Index Marcel Fengler (IMF) in 2011 – a platform that not only continues evolving with his timeless techno approach but also represents a creative hub to introduce new and young talents as well as his other alias AZUR started in 2018 and focusing on more melodic soundscapes. 

As a DJ and producer, techno is for Marcel an unconditional passion as well as an essential part of his identity. He’s not bound to a linear one-dimensional sound, instead he’s constantly seeking for new ways to express his musical storytelling skills and show his true vision of techno, which makes Marcel Fengler one of today’s most exciting electronic artists.

Vinyl Only DJ Set, Live Recording from Phygital Audiovisual Event

As part of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture’s 2024 program “All of Greece, One Culture”, Modular Expansion organized “Phygital”, an immersive event showcasing live audiovisual performances. These performances blended digital and physical-analog musical instruments, complemented by digital projection. The event took place at Rio Castle in collaboration with the Greek National Opera and the Archaeological Service.
The Phygital event is structured into three distinct live music performances of contemporary electronic music artists George Apergis and Alex Retsis, alongside simultaneous digital artwork projections by the artistic group DEN. This includes visual haikus, a collage of brief micro-compositions combining instrumental and synthetic forms, connected by a deconstructive and unpredictable storytelling.
In the first hour, the audience had the experience of a digital live music performance by Qebo (Alex Retsis), featuring a blend of electroacoustic and ambient music inspired by the architecture of the castle. The second hour highlights the EMEX project by George Apergis and Alex Retsis, blending physical-analog instruments with digital technology to offer a dynamic interplay between digital and analog sounds. The final hour was dedicated to an analog live performance where George Apergis will exclusively use vinyl records. With the financial support and under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

Splatter is an underground techno label founded by Austrian musicians Luca Tresque, Joe Haensn, and Rotary Motion. It has featured artists such as Florian Meindl, JANEIN, Linear System, Franz Jäger, and Fhase 87.

Colombia's Tav Shvi has been turning heads with his releases on various imprints including Matt Altman's ALT Records, Hyperfocus, No.Identity, and TNR MEDIA. His latest package on Splatter includes two original works alongside remixes by A Thousand Details from Portugal.

For this DT:Premiere we selected "Phase Four" that uses a pumping bassline and rolling percussion as the energetic base layer. The showering sound of plucking, delayed synth tones provide the main hook amidst morphing mechanical elements for a tense and hypnotic feeling.
