“Sweet St Lucia” is the first song Ricky T has recorded about Saint Lucia. That alone makes the song a standout in a career that spans decades and has been full of accolades. Perhaps influenced by his long absences from home this past year while on an extended world-wide tour for his 2016 hit “Freaky Girls” or a burning desire to proudly declare his Nationality - but coming days from the country’s observance of its 38th Independence, it is a present to all Saint Lucians and a welcome departure from his norm.
 
This is “Sweet St Lucia” Ricky style. He namedrops places and events and talks about what makes us all quintessentially Lucian like our love of pork and rum, our festivals, heroes, culture and vibe – and does it in a way that lets you know this is Ricky T.
 
Writing from Trinidad, Ricky T reflects on what he loves and misses about St Lucia while also recognizing that which is Trini from their “pepper” to Piarco International Airport. But “Sweet St Lucia” is about us, knowing and holding on to what makes us a people…it is for us to “Stand Up and Stand Proud” as we declare “I am Saint Lucia.”
