Tenderness Ft Luna

I wrote this track specifically for my first outdoor event this past weekend at Cherokee Farms in GA. I knew the grounds where this event took place played a big roll in the Native Cherokee Tribes history. I produced this song as an offering to those Native Spirits in hopes that they would resonate with my respect and reverence for things forgotten. The song is to represent a rain storm moving through the dry land. Starts out slow and then the raindance begins. The climax of the song represents the storm and then the rest of the song is the storm moving out. I would like to thank these Spirits for listening and responding the way that they did. My life has been forever changed.

Raindance Under Thankful Trees

Dancing the heart chakra is an ecstatic dance of rapturous intoxication with the divine. 
Ecstasy is the embodiment of divine love, we radiate love radiate out through our hearts into every cell of our bodies. Our hearts are our gateways to the blissful silence of union with all that is. 
As we journey into the heart we surrender ourselves open to feel whatever is holding us back from fully receiving divine love. In the dance we dance and sound to let go and then we create more space within us to receive love. 
The more we feel, the more we become empty and the more we empty the more we can receive, the more we receive, the deeper our ecstatic rapture, the more total our divine intoxication.

09 Earth Breath

When we dance the third eye we intend to have a dance of in-sight so we begin by formulating a question around something in our life that we are seeking more clarity on. As we breathe and dance into the third eye we open into a no-mind state, a silent peaceful place. Our higher intuitive mind can be heard when the mental chatter ceases, so that is why we focus on a no-mind state for the dance.

The focus of the third eye dance is to integrate a deeper aware-ness of the life issues and patterns in all of the chakras. It is a dance of integration rather than purification. It is a dance to open up to the new evolutionary ways of being. We dance to gain clarity and insight, as cultivating the third eye aligns us to divine mind and higher consciousness.

“Desvio,” which is Spanish for detour, is more than just the name of this album. It’s a perfect example of a concept that (unwillingly) manifested itself in reality. It’s about getting tangled up in all kinds of obstacles along the way (both personal and external) forcing you to take one detour or another from the planned path.

At its core, Desvio is about beauty and brokenness — and the beauty within brokenness — a contrast I’ve always been drawn to. It’s hard to pin down into a single genre, but you’ll hear distinct influences from a modern trip-hop interpretation, various bass-driven styles, broken beats, jazz keys, synth-heavy and ambient experiments, collage-like sampled elements and even fragments of long-forgotten R&B vocals — merging into an emotional, fractured and somewhat overloaded mixture of electronica and trip-hop.

Most of the song ideas and creative choices came together relatively quickly in December '21 and early '22, with the initial goal of making a quick, kind of weird but heartfelt album while I was already working on another album. Yeah, right...

Fast forward to now: it took me three years and several months-long breaks in between to finally finish the tracks in a way I’m happy with. I was never satisfied with the sound, the delivery, the over-all production of my initial ideas. Something always felt fundamentally off. Picked the wrong drum elements, played the wrong combination of instruments. What I’ve learned: while putting down ideas quickly is a good way to actually finish tracks, it’s even more important to learn how to feel and make the RIGHT choices early on in the process.

Rather than releasing it in an unsatisfying, compromised form or turning back and giving up I saw these obstacles as challenges to overcome. This album had to be finished, not become another half-started project like its predecessor. So I pulled through until I was finally happy with it. In the end, that harder path helped me grow as an artist. At least that’s what I hope.
