Singer/ songwriter, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist from Carnia (Friuli, Italy), Lino is one of the most important representatives of what we call 'Gnove musiche Furlane', or 'New Friulian music'.

This is a musical genre which developed in the mid-90s in Friuli (pronounced Freeulee), a region in the north-east of Italy, and characterized by the utilization of the language Friulano (or Friulian in English), as instrument of expression in a totally new context, where this language is being experimented on various and non-indigenous musical genres, like folk-blues, folk-rock, neo-folk, pachanga, rap, hip-hop, heavy metal, punk and other commercial types of music.

Friulano (pronounced Freeulaano) or Friulian (pronounced Freeuleean) is the language of Friuli: it's origins can be traced to the Celts and the times when they used to inhabit this region. It is the result of a fusion of Latin and several celtic languages, with later langobardian influences. Alongside Sardinian (the language of Sardinia), it has been officially recognised by the Italian government as an independent language, in a context very similar to that of Welsh in the UK.

Besides his works in Friulian, Lino has been busy with Italian and English productions as well and has not only composed all the music in all of his albums, but also arranged and played all of the instruments in many of them. The main genre in which we can recognise this artist is folk (blues, rock, acid), with deep and knowledgeable interest in Friulian and European traditional and roots music, medieval music and acoustic rock.
His instrument of preference is the acoustic guitar, but he has also given ample space to the banjo guitar, blues harp, fiddle, keyboards and percussions, as well as many other typical instruments of the acoustic folk heritage (harmonium, bagpipe, mandolin, glockenspiel, tin whistle and others).

He is currently concentrating on studying and arranging traditional Friulian ballads, in order to rediscover the true melodies of this region's long lost musical roots and recreate a sound typical only for this part of Italy. Watch this space!
