so, story is that i've been producing for a while. from time to time, to vent frustration (lol) i come up with challenges for myself to produce/release something meaningful either every day or every week. having been a long-time fan of KSHMR's cinematic flair when producing electronic music, I decided to enter the contest as a way to prove to myself what I can do in a short span of time, and if i have what it takes. i fell in love with the Hip_Hop_Lavish_140_Fm_Bass, and then KRANE/Ekali-esque shenanigans ensued.

CV040, If I Don't is an embodiment of all that is unsure, that feeling you get before you make a choice of any real depth. Introspective feelings of reflection and nostalgia run through the blood and marrow of this instrumental & it shows through to the listener perfectly. The track displays the beauty of indecision perfectly & we are more than happy to feature it.

CV040: Strayframe - If I Don't

this is week 5 of my single streak. i've been releasing a track meaningful to me every week. "passerby" is very dear to me, emotionally. i hope some of you can relate.

epyon is a pretty ambitious tune for me as these kinds of tracks are always a pain to mix and sound design for. epyon is also the name of one of my favorite mechas from the gundam wing series, which i adore.

it's finished! as is typical with this weekly challenge, i had doubts i would finish this entry in time to release today, but i persevered and here we are again! week 49 is a hybrid of downtempo and drumstep/drum & bass vibes. heavily inspired by oldschool UKF singles and artists like Netsky and Sub Focus who had a heavy hand in shaping that era of dance music.

WEEK 50 is out! this one is a love letter to both the visuals of Sekiro/Ghosts of Tsushima/Ninja Gaiden and the broken, groovy sounds of Mr. Carmack

some of you may remember the earliest version of this one. when i first wrote the skeleton for this track years ago, i was finally arriving at what would eventually become my distinctive workflow when working with harder/aggressive ideas for bass music.
since then, i've been honing in on providing a lived-in/worn/organic feeling to all of my tracks, and i wanted to revisit "zaku" as i wrap up my challenge. i borrowed the name from the grunt mechs from the gundam series, as the visuals and themes from that franchise have continued to inspire me in many ways. sonically, i'm pulling (of course) from artists skilled in details like Flume, Alexander Lewis, Skrillex, and Noisia.

WEEK 52 is here! i made it.

i’m back for another friday with the FINAL entry in my year long producer challenge to upload a well-written, ambitious and meaningful piece of music every week. plenty of electronic funk and disco vibes on this summer beat.

i think it’s crazy that i stuck through this. making music and releasing it with high expectations allowed me to deal with artistic pressure, “failures”, and personal successes in a consistent way that has definitely impacted my process.

this choice was made because i was frustrated and bored with my surroundings. i’d gone a year into a new job, and didn’t want that change in lifestyle to stifle my raw creativity. 

i also wanted to situate a living proof of my quality/consistency within the reach of anyone with an internet connection. 

i don’t know when i’ll pick my streak back up again, but i want to revisit this concept again, maybe in a different way. a big thank you to all the old and new folks who joined me on this little journey. enjoy “NEON” streaming everywhere now!
