« Aix en Provence-based imprint STRCTR first tickled our fancy last year with a trio of ear-pleasing, floor-friendly EPs. Since two of those were multi-artist, compilation style affairs, it's little surprise to find that release number four is similarly structured. First up, ALVA wraps jaunty, jazzy synth riffs and sun-kissed guitars around a bouncy and swinging deep house groove (The Wall), before Armless Kid delivers the kind of smooth and quietly soulful instrumental deep house number that could once have graced the B-side of a Prescription release. Thanks to some ear-catching acid motifs and fluid, near fluttering chords, Mara Lakour's "Timecode" has a much more futurist, deep space feel, while Ortella's "Digital Detox" wraps decidedly intergalactic, dub techno style motifs around a thumping, peak-time ready rhythm track. »

« Leon & Marius the duo who form Das Carma hail from Stuttgart, Germany. The pair have been on a steady rise pushing their irresistible House grooves since their first release as part of 124 recordings VA back in 2016. Since then they have gone on to release on other esteemed house labels such as Rough Recordings, Borg and newly formed Esouh Music.

2019 see's the pair land on STRCTR, a label with a reputation for delivering that sweet House music and Das Carma are in good company here with previous artists such as Manooz, Harrison BDP & Liam Geddes on the label. Even the title of the EP shows the fondness between label & producers: STR > MRS (Airport codes stands for Stuttgart, Germany from where the producers come from and Marseille, France where the label is based).

Delivering a 4 track EP of original productions, Das Carma shows that sometimes a flashy remixer is simply not needed. "Liftoff Cloud 9" opens the EP with a warm floating dreamlike track, ebbing and weaving beautifully throughout the course of the track. "Larry & Frankie" and "Subnautica" keep the subtle refrains of the opener but bring the funk slightly more with bump-in garage drums turning these tracks into feel-good lo-fi burners. Closing out the EP is "Dub101", here the guys waste no time in making the tracks intentions felt, skippy House drums and a big old slice of call & response from some heavy hitting Dub chords - Peak time tackle. »

STRCTR's latest and greatest EP comes from @ruffstuffcrew. Italian born, Berlin-based Gianfranco “Nanni” Barnaba, is the mind behind Ruff Stuff. His music rooted in the influences of old school House, Deep and Garage with a propensity to find the newest, freshest sounds. Delivering them in a unique style in the booth, and relentlessly attacking the studio. 

He proves that here with Bouncing Hearts, a lush house track that is deep yet driven, with warm synths and crisp grooves. Centurion Voyage takes you on a cosmic trip on rolling drums that get rough with smeared astral chords and bobbling bass. Auz closes things with a more upbeat feel thanks to the rich stabs that bring subtle energy, and large hi-hat ringlets that get you up on your toes. @Demuja's remix is super cool, with rapped vocals and old skool New York chords bringing the magic to a top EP.

With regular releases on labels in eastern Europe, Landau’s one and only Masupilami now takes aim to place his music on his local turf here in Germany. Seizing the oppurtunity to be the first label to present him here, Dance Petrol Records heads to the resuce and happily invites their good friend to contribute some of his finely crafted pieces of house music to their release extravaganza! 

Taking more first times into account, this EP marks the first release in which the label opens itself up for releases that come entirely from the pen of a single artist, leaving the musical freedom in his hands. Masupilami takes this chance to deliver what he’s loved for: stripped down house beats that just provide groove for ages. Despite the minimalistic appearing soundscapes, each track has its bits and pieces that just keep on surprising you on every listen! Be it lush pads, synthetic stabs melted beautifully with rich echoes.
