« Aix en Provence-based imprint STRCTR first tickled our fancy last year with a trio of ear-pleasing, floor-friendly EPs. Since two of those were multi-artist, compilation style affairs, it's little surprise to find that release number four is similarly structured. First up, ALVA wraps jaunty, jazzy synth riffs and sun-kissed guitars around a bouncy and swinging deep house groove (The Wall), before Armless Kid delivers the kind of smooth and quietly soulful instrumental deep house number that could once have graced the B-side of a Prescription release. Thanks to some ear-catching acid motifs and fluid, near fluttering chords, Mara Lakour's "Timecode" has a much more futurist, deep space feel, while Ortella's "Digital Detox" wraps decidedly intergalactic, dub techno style motifs around a thumping, peak-time ready rhythm track. »

« Leon & Marius the duo who form Das Carma hail from Stuttgart, Germany. The pair have been on a steady rise pushing their irresistible House grooves since their first release as part of 124 recordings VA back in 2016. Since then they have gone on to release on other esteemed house labels such as Rough Recordings, Borg and newly formed Esouh Music.

2019 see's the pair land on STRCTR, a label with a reputation for delivering that sweet House music and Das Carma are in good company here with previous artists such as Manooz, Harrison BDP & Liam Geddes on the label. Even the title of the EP shows the fondness between label & producers: STR > MRS (Airport codes stands for Stuttgart, Germany from where the producers come from and Marseille, France where the label is based).

Delivering a 4 track EP of original productions, Das Carma shows that sometimes a flashy remixer is simply not needed. "Liftoff Cloud 9" opens the EP with a warm floating dreamlike track, ebbing and weaving beautifully throughout the course of the track. "Larry & Frankie" and "Subnautica" keep the subtle refrains of the opener but bring the funk slightly more with bump-in garage drums turning these tracks into feel-good lo-fi burners. Closing out the EP is "Dub101", here the guys waste no time in making the tracks intentions felt, skippy House drums and a big old slice of call & response from some heavy hitting Dub chords - Peak time tackle. »

Following up to his 2017 summer anthem ‘Please Stay’ which gleaned over 4M views on YouTube to this day, French producer @matthieufaubourg makes his long-awaited return on STRCTR with ‘Infinity’ - an enticingly lush four-tracker made up of two original jams and a pair of matching reworks courtesy of Amsterdam based vibist @fritswentink and Parisian producer @leo-pol.

Giving its title to the EP, the opening track ‘Infinity’ has us gliding in a stream of dreamy euphoria without further ado. Meshing a thoroughly pumping, piano-splattered Chicagoan shuffle with sturdy, knee-buckling bass work to lose your body and soul to, the track ushers all onto the dancefloor for what can be described as quite the hectic ride.

Sensuous and addictive to the full, ‘Infinity’ finds a more melodically introspective incarnation in Frits Wentink’s revamp. Synths blooming and expanding into lavish corollas of prismatic beauty, the groove unfolds seamlessly, resounding with the kind of kaleidoscopic oneirism that'll beam up after crowds into another dimension entirely.

Flip sides and here’s ‘Far’ lifting us off to upper spheres of hedonistic urges and cosmic luvin. As filtered synth envelopes, playful robotics and rousing percussive rhythms entangle in a symbiotic ballet of sleek machine talk and pure emotional wellness, Faubourg continually expands the scope from dancy sequences to pensive stasis.

Cranking up the temperature to sizzling levels, Leo Pol dishes out a plain banging reshape that will tear up any dancefloor with its perfect balance of impactful uptempo swing and nostalgia drenched mellifluousness.

Sure to whip up clubs and festivals into a seriously infectious frenzy, ‘Infinity’ cements Faubourg’s status as one of today’s house scene’s most inspired frontmen.
