This is an excerpt from an old set recorded at the first edition of Jubeljahre Festival. Streetman Records (@streetman-records) was invited to take over the beach stage for 6 hours. I came across the recording from this session the other day and this 2 hour segment of house jams threw me back hard - couldn't resist sharing!

ZAPATA (Hardmatter Records / Berlin)

Zapata is a Berlin-based DJ and producer who runs Hardmatter Records (@hardmatterrecords) and the recently-inaugurated Streetman Records imprint.  Besides running these two labels, he also organises the “DiscoDisco” party at Berlin’s underground Repeat Bar, in which DJs are encouraged to break the four-to-the-floor mold by playing funk, jazz, afro, and anything else that falls in between. Alongside JVXTA, Zapata has worked with Javonntte and Malik Alston, among others, to curate a deep, jazzier electronic sound focused on live improvisation and soul. 

This mix reflects Zapata’s penchant for eclectic selections, but also keeps to dreamier, atmospheric sounds. The mix presents the DJ and producer in a more pensive and reflective mood, moving from the ambient sounds of Gigi Masin to dreamier New York cuts. In his own words: “I wanted to present artists and styles that matter to me and that have been overlooked, while presenting the deeper part of what Hardmatter is all about.”

Premiere: DJ Soch & Javonntte 'Season' (Javonntte Swing Mix)

The colours in the sky had begun to change and the leaves fell from the trees. They paved the floor with brown and gold - like crispy crumbs spilt across the pavement. It was time for a new season, autumn was thick in the air and soon the darkness would suffocate and dissect the small town as the cold wind blew in from the East. The sky was a heavy grey, yet he couldn't help but smile for it was wholesome and cheerful to be here, amidst others, watching as the fireworks illuminated the night. 

Dj Soch and Javonntte are set to release a highly danceable new record via Hardmatter. One track, four versions - a beautiful ode to house music in the present day and a release which comes recommended. This one is for the dancers, the Italian Stallion mix.
