Rep For My Mob continues the tradition of representative anthems that the Street Warriors are famous for, starting from their very first shout out to all the tribes in their Local Knowledge hit 'Blackfellas' to their most recent reconciliation anthem, Solid Rock (feat. Shannon Noll).  Rep For My Mob features a guest rap by Anthony 'The Man' Mundine and a wicked back beat that will have you grooving along.

Street Warriors have reworked the classic Aussie song Solid Rock combining hip hop verses and beats with rock guitars from Goanna's Shane Howard and a soaring vocal from multi-platinum vocalist, Australian Idol alumni Shannon Noll.  

The song scored early recognition when it was nominated for a Deadly Award before it was even released!

The epic hit that started it all when the Street Warriors were known as Local Knowledge along with then third member Joel Wenitong - Blackfellas is a shout out to all the tribes calling for indigenous brothers and sisters to stand up and be counted and be proud of their heritage and their culture. 

Street Warriors' story starts in 2002 when brothers Abie and Warrick Wright approach Joel Wenitong with some lyrics and ideas. Two years of inspiration and their dedication paid off in 2004 when they won the Aboriginal/Torres Straight Islander Musicoz Award.

Honoured by Triple J, Local Knowledge are the first ever indigenous hip hop group to play Live @ The Wireless; thousands of downloads of the single ‘BLACKFELLAS’  from JJJ’s website over the space of four weeks; the boys were offered a timeslot on the Honours Year at Homebake and supports with the likes of The Herd and Xavier Rudd;  Jamie Hilton (Blink 182, Shakaya, Thirsty Merc, Butterfly Effect and more) shoots and produces the film clip for ‘BLACKFELLAS’ and Australia’s first ever iTunes only label, The Propaganda Recording Company signed the band in a revolutionary deal for their first EP and the boys win a Deadly Award.

The popularity of this song is undiminished and its message still relevant as the boys are regularly asked to perform it at live shows.

Blackfellas

Firestorm is the opening track on the Street Warriors' debut album, 'Unstoppable Force' . It has been described by US reviewers as having 'echoes of NoKTurNL's ominous, apocolyptic vision of modern life".   The song is really a mission statement,  a summation of the Street Warriors’ journey and ethos, a mission statement to the masses.

"Just like the lyrics say, ‘Step by step you do it/Town by town you show it’, it’s been our journey and this album is like the culmination of that. That’s what ‘Firestorm’ is about, and who would have thought back when we first started out that seven years later there’d be so many other Indigenous hip hop artists out there?” says Wok.
