A distinct minimalistic sound that we hadn’t heard before but we instantly loved it.

Sometimes we find inspiration in the words of others as Harz did for this set, “Music has to do with sounds, so we need to find them somewhere and it is preferred to find musical ones. You have two sources for sounds: noises, which always tell you something - a door cracking, a dog barking, the thunder, the storm; and then you have instruments. An instrument tells you, 'la-la-la-la'. Music has to find a passage between noises and instruments. It has to escape. It has to find a compromise and an evasion at the same time; something that would not be dramatic because that has no interest to us, but something that would be more interesting than sounds like Do-Re-Mi-Fa…” - Pierre Schaeffer

"I recorded a Podcast for the wonderful IO crew from Leipzig. They invited me in march 2013 to Leipzig, where I played at an illegal party in an abandoned building in Leipzig-Plagwitz alongside Solaris and Perm. It was the beginning of some deep friendships and through them, I met a lot of great people from Leipzig. So it was a pleasure for me to make this nearly 2 hr-Podcast.
Also I'm taking a break from Berlin for a few month. I really need some time off to revitalise myself and to find out, where to go with my life, what's important for me and what's not. If you miss me, you can just hear this Podcast and next year I'm back with new energy and inspiration. Take care! Stay gold!

Der dritte Teil der „Auf Zu Neuen Dächern“ Serie lädt ein zur musikalischen Klangreise durch die Weiten der Pahl’schen Plattensammlung: ein Podcast voll tribalistischer Rhythmen, verhallten Streichern und wundersamen Klang-Artefakten aus lang verschollenen Kulturen. Wir beziehen unser Lager zwischen ersten Knospen im Klunkergarten und blinzeln in die Sonne - on our embankment - really high up. 

Am 30.03.2017 lädt André Pahl mit seinen Gästen "Arcane Onde" aka "Eva Geist" und "Philip Rohé" von der Leftfield-Electronica Band „Popular Bluff“ zu seinem neuen Format „Cosmic Safari“ auf den Kranich ein.

We like odd. We liked weird. We like fun. 

These are all things which float our boat here at Ransom Note headquarters, that's why this next mix comes in the form of a magnificent duo from Belgium with whom we have developed a fascination in recent times. Asa Moto is the pairing of Gilles Noë & Oliver Geerts - together they make abstract dance and electronic music with a deep, warped personality which always leaves you wanting more. Their music has been heavily championed on DEEWEE, the mysterious imprint run by Soulwax. Most recently the pair have released the "Playtime" EP which is an exotic, sweeping collection of intriguing lyrics and woozy synth workouts.

The stars aligned, our creative force combined, and so this mix became our initiation into Conjuring Spirits.  

We crafted this for a cosy little gathering in a forest close to Berlin, named Die Letzte Wiese, the day was 06.09.2020 
It was a Sunday, the vibe was Hot and we were Fire.

Later on we recorded this sonic diary of the happenings from that day, in a ritual for music (at home).
