The Bloc Dubs are finally back, and we've got a special one for you today. First up is Alfredo Romero, kicking things off from London with a firm declaration of groove. Second comes Swedish maestro Bænglund, showcasing an energetic, hypnotizing 2-step trekker bound to make any dancefloor pop. Track number three is blessed by well-kept Stockholm secret Alf Balder, coming through with a breaky blaster filled with funk and harmonic sweetness. Closing track is delivered by Ukraine producer and selector P V L V, wrapping up the third Dubs volume with a dark and psychedelic tint.

Electrifying London-based label, Rhythm Labs, are back after their much anticipated second trip to the pressing plant. Carrying on from the success of their Polish House and UK Breakbeat fusion on RL001, the label now takes a deep dive into their home roots, as their sophomore release RL002 explores the sonics of both home-grown and international UK Garage.


Embodying the concept of Day & Night, the 6 track project journeys from AM to PM - wading through an experimental two-step, right the way through to rough & ready 140BPM inspired rhythms from some of the most talented producers in the scene.

Shall Not Fade continues a tradition of marking its anniversary with star-studded compilations; for its sixth year, expect no less. Fans of the Bristol-based purveyor of feel-good dance music will recognise the names; members of the Shall Not Fade family from across all of its sublabels and series come together for a stellar 24 track project, presented in a triple vinyl boxset.  

Including tracks from long-time affiliates like Harrison BDP, Subjoi, Black Loops and Felipe Gordon, as well as new faces to the label like Cinthie, Kessler & Barry Can’t Swim. The compilation brings out the genre-spanning, globe-trotting ethos at the core of Shall Not Fade. The three disc vinyl package shines a light on the various sounds and styles of Shall Not Fade. Disc one is dedicated to the main Shall Not Fade label, whilst disc two focuses on bass driven sublabel Time Is Now with its focus on the delicate and dirty sound palettes of UKG and jungle, featuring label regulars Bakey and Ell Murphy. Disc three merges the sound of sub-label Lost Palms, as well as Shall Not Fade’s ‘classic cuts and ‘killer cuts’ serieses, featuring a label debut from Parisian producer Tour Maubourg, ahead of his full EP out early next year.

Next tape shamelessly broadcasts something more than a musical history into the mouthpiece of the era. The playful intro with Kelis' voice instantly sets a suitable rhythmic texture, hinting at a multi-genre evolution within the compilation. First, a tub of burning, aggressive bottoms pours out on the top of the head, flows down the ears with organ synthesizers and tickles the cheekbones with sensitive hats.

Everything becomes more serious when a high-voltage jungle and an assertive swing with a booming, angrily mumbling bass line are alternately wedged into the carefree prowess. Arrogance is quickly knocked down by weightless melodies with rare blues scales and dreamy echoes of Eurodance, packed in classic UKG.

Here and there you can hear the expressive riddle of breakstep mixed with growing landscape pads and agile snare, and in places a notorious raga style seeps through, demonstrating a true gangster bearing.

A fresh street blend Spezial Series Vol. 3 will shower from head to toe with seditious, unbridled and daring highlights, and where necessary — it will caress with romantic accompaniment.

Always open to experimentation, Welsh imprint Haŵs welcomes Wyatt to the family. Comprising five evocative, glossy cuts, the ‘Netherwood’ EP is a time capsule back to his hometown, turning memories into alchemical moments experienced under a blazing sun or by the light of a full moon.

The opening ‘Sewell’ sails through a sensory voyage of stripped-back breakbeat, travel intercom samples and earworm melodies. ‘Netherwood’ snakes into a trippy pace, carving an indefinable sculpture of synth melodies nestled between weightless ambient.

On the B-side, ‘Mousehold’ launches into a peak-time club number, its initial drive of drums and bass tempered down by emotive accents that feel like a coy dance between yin and yang. ‘Tombland’ slinks into a shadow-cast realm of melancholy and introspection, joining the hands of broken beat and synth lines into a melodic collaboration drunk on its private thoughts. To close, ‘Heathgate’ retreats into a hopeful murmur, reflecting its quiet, percussive optimism back at itself through tear-stained melodies and a glassy bass.

Sometimes, existential introspection happens through external movement. ‘Netherwood’ is a catalyst for those epiphanies.
