The latest release from Clubsonica Records finds Golan Zocher returning to the label for a new single. Born in Colombia but now calling Israel home, Golan Zocher has firmly etched his place in progressive house lore. Following a 2016 debut, the Tel Aviv resident quickly found his place amongst the genre's elite, earning play and support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Guy Mantzur. Releases via Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers, Plattenbank and Proton highlight what has been an eight-year creative swell for this elusive talent. Clubsonica has also been a regular landing spot for Golan, with three originals and two remixes recorded since making his label debut in 2017. Now, following a contribution to the label's Sampler, Vol.3 earlier this year, Golan returns to the Clubsonica with 'Alive', alongside remixes from Will DeKeizer and Dabeat. 

Diversifying his portfolio further, 'Alive' finds Golan collaborating with vocalist Ojeni. Together the duo craft an emotive slice of progressive house that arrives in good time for the impending summer season. Golan's warm key changing grooves, timeless tonal themes and lively percussive arrangements set the perfect foundation for Ojeni's memorable hooks to work their magic. She injects the piece with authentic soul and emotion, as Golan's warm grooves and subtle musicality provide the perfect dance floor vehicle to deliver the tracks transcendent message.

Making his label debut with the first interpretation of 'Alive' is Will DeKeizer. Hailing from the USA, Will DeKeizer first emerged in 2021 with the success of 'Karma'. Armed with a sound that incorporates dark, hypnotic and melodic elements, Will would go on to showcase his music via Deepwibe Underground, Plattenbank and Sudbeat, while earning the support of genre tastemakers Guy J, Guy Mantzur and Hernan Cattaneo. Now, on the strength of a three-track showcase for Suza records, Will makes his Clubsonica debut with a cosmic take on 'Alive'. Dark rebounding rhythms and warm key changing basslines set the course for snatches of fluttery effects and bright percussive clusters. A gorgeous contrast from the American artist and one which is explored further across an astral break. A haze of trailing effects dominates the cavernous interlude, building tension with each successive pass, before Will's progressive attitude reveals itself during a commanding drop and groove-centric finale. 

The release concludes with Dabeat with the second and final interpretation of 'Alive'. Sitting as one of Colombia's premiere progressive house talents, David Barragan aka Dabeat has enjoyed a steady rise since first emerging in 2008 with a release courtesy of Beatfreak Recordings. Now laying claim to an impressive discography, the Santiago de Cali resident has showcased his music via Anjunadeep, Mango Alley, Plattenbank, Proton, Replug and Sudbeat, while continuing to receive play and support from the genre's premiere tastemakers. As a regular contributor to Clubsonica, David has delivered five remixes across the last five years, which now lead him back to the label with an emotive take on 'Alive'.

Smooth and rhythmic throughout, Dabeat aims squarely at a main room dancefloor here. Deconstructed vocals and wavy arps unite atop trance inducing rhythms and full rolling grooves. Phasing motifs and precise percussion add tension leading into the main break, perfectly setting up the full vocal reveal. Ojeni's soulful phrases emerge for moments of harmonic bliss, married beautifully against a backdrop of flickering arps, before getting washed away in a finale that is equal parts energetic and emotive. A gorgeous interpretation from Dabeat which rounds out an excellent single and label return for Golan Zocher.

D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music opens the month of August by presenting the sixteenth edition of their SIX:Stage-X compilation series. At just over four years into its existence, the beloved various artists showcase continues to search the globe for the freshest new talent that the electronic underground has to offer, oftentimes featuring a cohesive blend of progressive and melodic techno styles. SIX: Stage-16 follows suit and lands in impressive fashion with exclusive music from (in order of appearance) Rockka, Neuralis, NAASA, Redspace, Franco Romano and Maraudon. Leading the release off is Rockka who returns to the label following his remix of 'EsQadar' by Dr Green and Moodfreak. The Sri Lankan's latest is entitled 'Black Sands' and sets a strong tone for the release with a groovy style and dark yet electrifying storyboard. Selection two finds Neuralis making his label debut with the chugging grooves of 'Arritmia'. The Spanish artist crafts a chunky, rhythmic journey which flows through peaks and valleys to translate a goosebump-inducing narrative to the dance floor. Label debutantes NAASA arrive to SLC-6 Music in grand fashion with 'Perfect Time', a track which finds the duo showcasing their heartfelt melodies and poignant designs to great effect. Marking the collection's halfway point is Redspace who also makes an impressive first solo effort for SLC-6 with '1994'. Well-established with releases via Droid9 and Univack, the fast rising artist delivers a modern day progressive chugger, highlighted by ghostly tones and an earnest piano line which perfectly sets up a dark drop. Fresh off releases for Beat Boutique and MNL, Franco Romano delivers selection five 'Parallel Universe'. The Argentine's stompy beats and key changing bass stabs provide a sturdy dancefloor framework, while a tantalizing melodic lead adds depth and colour throughout. The release concludes with newcomer Maraudon presenting his first official production 'Orea'. As a strong debut it rounds out the release with a perfect blend of techno inspired beats, trippy effects and a tension filled break to set up a heads down finale.

Rockka - Black Sands [SLC - 6 Music] - Preview

Clubsonica Records opens the fall season by welcoming Mario Eighta to the label for his debut EP. Since emerging in 2019 Mexican artist Mario Eighta has forged a distinctive sound which focuses on inventive use of melody and rhythm, drawing the lines between global dance cultures without adhering to any fixed formula. As a favourite of electronic music tastemakers Agents Of Time, Armen Miran, Fideles and more, the Playa del Carmen resident has compiled an impressive discography across a four-year creative swell, landing releases on top tier imprints such as Beatfreak, Freegrant Music and Tale & Tone. 

Continuing what has been a great start to the year, Mario Eighta steps forward with ‘Otus' which showcases his originality and sophistication as an artist. Anchored by a deep, chugging groove and smooth rhythmic pulses, the energy is fluid from the outset. Haunting tones, icy overlays and otherworldly arps steal the air as the first act evolves, elegantly moving through a forest of finely tuned percussion and wispy effects. Carrying into the main break, it's a series of astral sonics and haunting vocal pads which add mightily to the narrative, marrying beautifully with the interlude's darker monochromes, before percolating arps emerge for a prophetic moment and groovy finale. The companion piece ‘Berhert' finds Mario collaborating with fellow countryman Kleinfinger. Together the duo masterfully synthesize their talents into one singular progressive minded vision. Deeper and more atmospheric than its predecessor, it's a series of symphonic synth phrases which dominates the narrative, laid out perfectly over a bed of rippling grooves and punchy kick drums. Gathering an even greater astral tone, it is the main break which proves to be the highlight, melting down to a cavernous cinematic calm, before perfectly segueing into an understated drop and swirling atmospheric finale. 

The lone interpretation of ‘Otus' is provided by John Cosani. On the strength of early tracks John earned the praise of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, in turn landing standout projects via Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers, Tale & Tone and more. Looking to further diversify his resume, John now makes his Clubsonica debut with a stellar take on ‘Otus'. Smooth and groovy across the first movement, John continues his stylized ways with buoyant grooves, operatic voices and retro chord stabs creating an eventful path into the main break. Sitting comfortably in a thought provoking space, John's quirky melodies rise out of calming atmospheres as the interlude evolves, adding perfectly to its concise yet anticipatory nature, before eventually breaking off into a percussive drop and shapeshifting conclusion.

The release concludes with Bemannte & Bruder. Hailing from Ireland, the Bemannte & Bruder duo first emerged in 2021 with a series of releases via longstanding UK imprint Stripped Recordings. Armed with a timeless progressive sound, Bemannte & Bruder were immediately tipped as a name to watch. Now, following a summer EP for Eleatics affiliate Aletheia Recordings, Bemannte & Bruder make their Clubsonica debut with a groovy interpretation of ‘Berhert'. Taking inspiration from the original, the Irish production team flexes their free-thinking muscles and crafts a version that lands comfortably between the surreal and exotic. Neatly manicured percussion and a thunderous, hip-swinging groove set the course for snatches of panoramic arps and orbiting effects, which ultimately highlight the first act. Coming to full fruition across the main break, a dystopian mood emerges as prophetic atmospheres and billowing tones converge, eventually giving way to a glowing arp-driven finale. A timeless interpretation from Bemannte & Bruder, which rounds an excellent Clubsonica debut for Mario Eighta, an artist who you'll certainly be hearing more from in the future.
