Brooklyn based Mike Isai joins the onedotsixtwo family with two red-hot progressive gems, Alya and Chrysalis.  Fellow New Yorker and ODST alumni, Mir Omar, takes on Alya, while Aussie legends GMJ & Matter give us their unique take on Chrysalis making this a complete onedotsixtwo family release. 

Although a relatively new name on the progressive scene, Mike Isai has certainly hit the ground running, with highly praised releases on the legendary Hope Recordings, and a recent EP on current label du jour Meanwhile Recordings. Growing up in New York Mike was exposed to electronic music from a very early age via his siblings who introduced him to Sasha, Digweed, Danny Tenaglia and the like and soon after, at the age of sixteen, decided he wanted to create his own sounds and hasn’t looked back since. 

First up is ‘Alya’ with an infectiously deep groove, shimmering keys and understated yet powerful acid undertones. ‘Chrysalis’ follows with a growling energy and tribal rhythms complimented by atmospheric hypnotic chants and sweeping effects. Mir Omar takes on Alya to great effect, adding intricate layers of percussion and brining a peak time feel to the piece. GMJ & Matter tackle Chrysalis bringing their signature euphoric big room sound and rounding off a stunning EP in style.

'Argentinian producer Ric Niels makes his debut on Hicky & Kalo's label Plaisirs Sonores Records with his beautiful track 'Walking In The Woods'. The song is a mix of ethereal synths, groovy bassline and tasty drums. The glorious vocals of Hydrah add a sumptuous aura to the music.

First on remix duty, we found Dmitry Molosh. The Belarusian DJ and producer is famous for his inimitable progressive sound and excellent taste in music. Dmitry represents his country far beyond its borders as one of the most forward-thinking electronic music artists in the world. Here, he created a huge progressive piece filled with trancy melodies and one of the most epic drop we heard in a long time.

Also rising out of Argentina's electronic underground are the elusive duo Analog Jungs. Made up of Claudio Cornejo and Gustavo Ruarte, Analog Jungs was born out of a love for rhythm, groove and melody. The duo is back on the label after their successful release of 'Landscape' with Oliver & Tom last year.

To close out the package, there's an instrumental version of 'Walking In The Woods' for the DJs uneasy with vocals.

Hicky & Kalo say: 'Super happy to welcome Ric Niels on our label. We are fan of his music, we played many of his tracks over the last few years. Same thing for Dmitry Molosh, he is currently the best progressive house producer no doubt. Such an honour to welcome him on the Plaisirs Sonores family.'

Talented Australian producer Liam Sieker combines his musical knowledge with Wilma where together they create a unique single that is part of the release of the same name "Wings Of Serenity"! This masterful EP has as many as three originals and two remixes, of which the above was done in collaboration, while only Liam is credited for the remaining two. On remix duty two strong names from the progressive and organic house scene, which would be called "deja vu" of top musicians, and in this case are RIGOONI and Fabri Lopez!

Sound Avenue begins the new year by showcasing new interpretations of Madloch and Subnode's 'Lion's Mane'. Originally landing in March of last year it marked the Belgian imprints 100th release. Backed by remixes from Navar and Bookwood, the project earned praise from progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J. It continued what has been a creative partnership between the Belgian artists, ultimately leading to new studio experiments due out later this year. Sound Avenue now re-visits the duo's 'Lion's Mane', by inviting Dmitry Molosh and B.A.X. to re-interpret the track for 2020.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of 'Lion's Mane' is Dmitry Molosh. The Belarus based artist continued to dominate the progressive music landscape in 2019, showcasing his music on Beatfreak Recordings, Beat Boutique, Replug and Sudbeat Music. Now getting the new year underway in fine fashion Dmitry delivers a powerful rendition of 'Lion's Mane'. Always a creative remixer, the Belarus native deconstructs the main elements into something decidedly more progressive minded, for what sits as an ideal complement to the original. Atop a tough, punchy foundation comes buzzing stabs and striking percussion, resulting in a unique contrast of character and groove. It's a remarkable sonic marriage, one which makes for a hugely energetic journey, elegantly peaking through an emotive break, before an exhilarating final act puts a cap on this chugging gem.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Lion's Mane' is B.A.X. The Vietnamese artist has found a home on Sound Avenue subsidiary 3rd Avenue where he has appeared three times. Also laying claim to releases on Droid9, fryhide and MNL, B.A.X. now makes his much-anticipated Sound Avenue debut with a gorgeous take on 'Lion's Mane'. Timeless and haunting in equal measure, it's unique beat pattern, ghostly wails and melodic fragments make for a compelling intro. It's free flowing narrative builds on a more esoteric slant as impassioned pads and scintillating arps converge as the break commences. Tasteful pianos and icy overlays make for an emotive interlude, resonating on a profound level and perfectly transferring energy into a glowing finale. A stunning remix from B.A.X., rounding out a superb remix edition for Madloch, Subnode and Sound Avenue to begin the new year.

Cid Inc’s Replug Records welcomes Interaxxis back to the label for a new two-track EP. Since making their label debut in 2016, Emiliano Folgar and Martin Kazez aka Interaxxis have found a comfortable home on the Finnish imprint. The Argentinean duo have since gone on to provide an EP and single for the label, while also being primary contributors to Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Nick Warren’s Hope Recordings and Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records. Now following a collaborative remix with Lost & Found alum Sahar Z and their latest Sudbeat offering ‘Bleakness’, Interaxxis returns to Replug with the much anticipated ‘Bowry’. 

Beginning with the title selection Interaxxis explores the darker realms of their highly regarded repertoire. Atop a tough, rolling foundation comes arpeggiated rhythms, buzzing stabs and striking percussion, resulting in a unique contrast of character and groove. Effervescent effects and stream-like sweeps continue to build the narrative, ultimately setting the course for an enthralling lead melody. Tense yet cosmic, its dramatic nature elevates across the main break, flowing through expressive modulation, before an exhilarating crescendo spearheads a charged finale. 

The EP’s second and final selection finds Interaxxis collaborating with fellow countryman Guille Cornejo aka Antrim. Also a Replug alum, the Cordoba resident made his label debut in 2019 with the well received ‘Trip To Red’. As a long-time favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, Guille also boasts an impressive resume, highlighted by releases on Sudbeat Music, Hope Recordings and his own Or Two Strangers imprint. Now coming together for their first ever joint production, Interaxxis and Antrim round the release out with ‘Isolation’. Its dark beginnings prove intriguing, as punchy beats, perfectly contoured bass and striking percussion unite for a robust rhythmic core. Devilish effects further it’s fiery flair, before hopeful overlays and nostalgic chord changes shift the mood into emotive territory. Building through an array of impressive artefacts, the centrepiece captivates with a rare unpredictably, before eventually accelerating to a tasteful crescendo and effects laden drop. It rounds out an impressive return to Replug for Interaxxis and Antrim, who continue to be two of the world’s foremost progressive music talents.
