Barbecue is a personal affair of the French producer Butch. Choosing to focus on quality rather than quantity, the imprint has released 5 EPs in the last three years, all of them authored by the label chief. However, Mr. Butch is not the only participant of this particular barbecue club, with house heavyweights Red Rack’em and Terrence Parker adding their personal touch on two latest releases. 

The latest venture on Barbecue follows a similar pattern. Three sample-heavy house anthems are accompanied by a masterful remix from another prominent producer. This time Butch did not have to look far, as his fellow Frenchman Strip Steve was happy to join the party. Currently based in Berlin, the funky producer has already released with a number of respected labels, including Boysnoize, Royal Oak, Waxtefacts and his own Jazz Cabbage.

The disco-influenced remix for the second track, dubbed ‘Where is Vagi’, features flowing melodies, filtered vocals and groovy percussion - basically all the necessary ingredients for a good time. It is a vigorous house affair with some slight hip-hop influences sprinkled on top, creating an easy-going and summery vibe even though the winter season is creeping upon us. If you don’t trust us, take the word of legends like Moodymann, Session Victim or Medlar who have all supported it.

12’ is coming out on October 26th, followed by a digital release on November 17th.

PREMIERE: Blutch - Where Is Vagi (Strip Steve Remix)

Due for release in the autumn, Three Years of Shall Not Fade gathers together nine tracks from existing and freshly signed members of the label’s growing family of artists, including Mella Dee, TRP, Loods and Adriyano. 
 The collection was designed to showcase Shall Not Fade’s constantly evolving sound, with the nine featured tracks touching on a wide variety of dancefloor-centric variations of house and techno while adhering to the label’s long-held ethos (“music to make people happy and dance”). It will be the label’s first ever album release and will be released in limited numbers on vinyl, with full colour artwork.  
 One of the headline attractions comes from Skream, who makes his Shall Not Fade debut with “Haunted Seaside Amusements”, a full-throttle affair that combines a thumping, kick-drum driven techno rhythm with moody motifs and a breathlessly beautiful, rising and falling synthesizer melody. 
 
The compilation also boasts label bows from two recent recruits who will be releasing full EPs on Shall Not Fade in 2019. Sometime Omena, Shabby Doll and W&O Street Tracks producer Mella Dee serves up the driving, retro-futurist basement garage of  “Patchwerk”, while Mall Grab collaborator Loods delivers the album’s most overwhelmingly positive cut, the jazz-flecked deep house bliss of “Everytime”. 
 
Another high profile contribution comes from Frits Wentink and DJ Boring, who here follow-up a recent joint EP on Bobby Donny with a first collaborative cut on Shall Not Fade. Their untitled cut is typically eccentric, off-kilter and tons of fun, with manipulated vocal samples, intergalactic effects, jangling pianos and chunky bass wrapping themselves around a swinging, percussive groove. 
 Naturally, the contributions from existing Shall Not Fade family members are equally as impressive. Adriyano kicks things off with the party-starting loop-funk of “The Sturdy Track”, while Lake Haze and Pierre Moritz dazzle with contrasting but equally dreamy slabs of saucer-eyed deep house loveliness.  
 Shall Not Fade’s most storied artist, LK, naturally delivers the goods via the huggable deep house classiness of “Dark Days”, while TRP, who last featured on the label two years ago, returns to round of proceedings with the bustling, techno-tempo hustle of acid-powered lo-fi house workout “Leap In The Dark (Live Mix 2)”.

Brooklyn based, DJ Monchan aka @dailysession, steps up to perform some surgical edit wizardy on four mouth-watering tracks for the ever-dependable Razor-N-Tape.

'Reaction Control' kicks things off with a joyous disco gem extending and echoing those killer groovers to create a whirlwind of dancefloor delight. Next up, 'Dance It All Out' has a touch of the exotic highlife sound to it but reworked into a DJ friendly irresistibly bouncing jam.

Flip it and it's back to the late-night NYC soirees of the 70's with 'Can't Promise' channelling that pure unadulterated fun into an ethereal edit of magnetic proportions. Taking the final slot of RNT042 'Get Down With Your Love' closes out proceedings with a sliky smooth soulful heater.

Berlin based label Jazz Cabbage - led by the illustrious Strip Steve - have been turning heads with their collection of wonky & groovy jazz-infused house tunes for the past year or so. Following previous releases from YGT, Daisuke Kondo and a recent family affair titled the Jazz Cabbage Grand Ball, label regular Joe Clean is back with his new EP, “Feeling Cute Dunno Might Delete Later”. Spanning three original cuts of sample heavy groovers and a great remix from wonky house specialist Glenn Astro himself, this is one smooth record.

Our pick of the bunch is the B1, aptly titled “We Need”. Right off the bat, Joe Cleen’s combination of slick filtering, bouncy toms, and crisp hats - all against the backdrop of one undeniably satisfying kick - get you in the mood to throw down. Soon joined by a piano sample with a tone that brings tears to your eyes and a delicate clap that’ll soothe your soul, “We Need” is a near-perfect warmup tune. Without question, this really is a track we need, and we’re pretty sure that you do to. Out on Nov 8th.

We can imagine this being the music to an underwater jazz & blues club where Joe and his band play every Saturday. The rhythm guitar and percussion dominate here, with lashings of low pass filter applied. Mr.Cleen only allows the track to come up for air with a beautiful horn section before diving back down into the swinging depths. OUT NOW!
