My Saturnian Legacy
(original poem)

A cold shiver
reached me
from my father’s line.
The fossil tree
has trembled,
has stirred
to be awakened,
redeemed.
It’s begging now 
for Grace and Fire
to melt the ancient ice.

The garden of this line,
all barren now,
lies silenced under mud
that holds the footprints
of those who chose the Have
and sacrificed the Feel.

A mountain of clay
thrones in the center of the garden.
I saw its core,
that aches to stay concealed.
A heart of ice -
the frozen life blood
of all who came before.

Their struggles, hunger
and despair,
their drive to have and build,
their abandoned hearts
are all imprisoned here,
in this mound 
of earth and ice,
that sucked the life
out of the tree.

But now,
the season’s shifting.

Young winds descend,
breathed from the heavens,
bearing stardust
and messages of hope.
Warm winds,
to thaw the legacy of ice,
gentle winds,
softly caressing walls
until they long to crumble.

The abandoned heart,
that once chose winter,
is bound to melt.
All fortified, sealed doors
are fated to open.

I say now to my father’s line,
to my saturnian teachers:
We have enough,
we built enough,
we proved enough,
we survived enough, 
we sacrificed enough.

The season is shifting.

The ancient winter 
begs for burial,
bones and pillars
long to stir,
Life calls to sprout
in the forsaken garden,
matter dreams 
to be infused with spirit.
Earth is ready
to be kissed by stars.
