Desyfer is a seasoned DJ and music producer with a rich history in the electronic music scene. His monthly DJ mixes on Data Transmission Radio and studio productions showcase his unique style and talent. His music has found a home on respected labels like Black Hole Recordings, ERRORR, Sony, Ministry of Sound, Solaris, Northern Exposure, and The Sound of Copenhagen.

Early Career and Collaborations:

Desyfer’s journey began in the early 1990s when he met Scott Latham, a local DJ and music producer. Their collaboration led to the creation of “Phoenix – Rise Up,” a track that gained significant recognition and was frequently played by renowned DJs like Sasha on Radio 1’s Essential Mix.

Tragically, Scott passed away in 1996, leaving a lasting impact on Desyfer and the music scene. Despite the loss, Desyfer continued to produce music, collaborating with other talented artists and releasing tracks on labels like Sony, Solid Silver Recordings, 831, Blue Ice Transparent, and Omnia.

Notable Achievements:

His track “831” was featured on Gatecrasher’s ‘Wet’ CD Release and used in their TV advertising campaign.

He contributed to the soundtrack of the UK movie “City Rats,” which was showcased at East London Film Festival and Slamdance Festival in the US.

His music has received support from legendary artists like Sasha, John Digweed, Nick Warren, Guy J, Paul Oakenfold, and many more.

His collaboration with Ginchy and Emma Konnanov on “Falling Around Me” reached No. 7 in the Hype Melodic House & Techno chart.

Desyfer and Emma Konnanov’s latest release “Paradise” hit Number 1 in the Top 100 New Progressive House Releases.
Desyfer and Emma Konnanov’s 2nd release on new label KOMAL “ADA” hit Number 1 in the Top 100 New Progressive House Releases.

Desyfer continues his chart-topping streak with “Fragile Soul,” achieving the number one position for the third consecutive month.

To all my SoundCloud listeners, there's no better place for me to post this...
I wrote this yesterday, right after recording this mix. Without getting overly sentimental, I feel like I’m at a bit of a crossroads when it comes to techno. Of course, music is constantly evolving and shaped by influences—that's always been the case. But something’s been standing out to me. It started last summer, but with Anyma’s recent performances at The Sphere in Las Vegas, it all came together in a kind of fever dream.

The entire melodic techno genre is heading in a direction that no longer resonates with me. The label that once delivered deep, hypnotic productions—Afterlife (who doesn’t remember the upside-down figure floating above the dancefloor?)—is now putting out tracks with trancey vocals. That underground feeling? Completely gone. And those Anyma concerts feel like the peak of that shift. A visual spectacle, a playground for influencers, but let’s be real—this has nothing to do with the immersive club nights we love. Anyma at The Sphere, with Tiësto and Sebastian Ingrosso as supporting acts. Tiësto playing in the jungles of Tulum or recently at Club Space Miami, doing his own take on melodic techno... Yeah, I think I’m pretty much done with it.

Of course, everyone has their own taste and their own vibe, that's all good. And good luck with that, but I just had to get this off my chest. And where better than with my SoundCloud listeners? :)

But with moments like this, you start looking at other movements, and that’s where things get interesting. One thing I am excited about is the rise of Afro House over the past two years. Don’t get me wrong, not everything in that space is gold. But the freshness, the groove, the build-ups, the danceability—it’s bringing back something that was getting lost.
I still feel a bit torn, and you can hear that in my latest mix. I start off in the Afro House realm but with a melodic techno edge—deep, hypnotic melodies, not too many drums, that sweet spot between melodic techno and Afro House, with tracks from Andhim, Super Flu, Emanuel Satie, and Forrest. Around the halfway point, there’s a subtle shift into melodic techno—not with trancey vocals, but with hypnotic depth, like Gravity by Axel Niggemann in a rework. A classic from 2015, back when melodic techno was still in its beginning. Then, transitioning into a remix by the legendary Steve Bug, I close the mix with another classic—a track from Dutch techno icon Steve Rachmad, under his Ignacio alias. Originally released in 2001, reworked by Rachmad himself in 2010 as Virton Upgraded.

Can melodic techno please find its way back to this please?

That’s the thing—techno evolves, and that’s a good thing. It brings energy, opens up new paths, and that’s why I’ve loved it for so long. I hope you enjoy the mix, and maybe you’ll hear what I’m trying to express here.

"40 Thieves and Alona… these are my homies. I love working with them. Alona is also on my EP “In the Dark” which came out in October 2024. And they have another EP coming out with us in the Spring of 2025. I’ve also done some work with them on their Album “The Sky is Yours” that came out in 2014 on Leng. They even named a track after me - “JP Soul” which was my alias back then. 40 Thieves are known for their cosmic disco and 80s sounds which is a great fit for Roam. For my remix I wanted to contrast that with a stripped down pounding version with warehouse vibes. There’s also another version on the EP from Shubostar which plays up the italo sounds. You can probably tell I love this EP and all the people on it. "

DJ from the southwest of Germany.

Electronic music has been a part of his life since 2007.

In 2010 he started his DJ experience at the "Elektronische Brücke" Event in Mainz, the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate/Germany.

This was followed by events in various clubs in Coblenz and the surrounding area.

In 2013 he was invited to the Beatstreams event series in the Club "Tunnel Luzern" together with André Galluzzi and Marcapasos, one of the highlights of his DJ career!

At this point he had to take a break for various reasons.

Ten years later in 2023 he was able to continue his beloved work as a DJ. Since then he has been involved in the "WHY NOT?!" event series.

"WHY NOT?!" Passion for charity!

All DJs work on a voluntary basis and the proceeds go to charitable causes to support regional projects for groups, animals and individuals.

Further events are already being planned for 2025.

Dates already confirmed: 

- 07.01.25: New Mixset released by the Berlin Label Obenmusik

- 01.02.25: “WHY NOT?!” – all night long from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on "Radio 
   Rheinwelle" Wiesbaden.
