Last winter, musical collective Troubadours anchored their microphones for three months in Bali, to meet, record, and improvise with musicians from the island. The resulting piece blends contemporary gamelan dissections, insectoid natural symphonies, lysergical jams, meditations on socio-cultural traditions and transformations, vortexes of digital-nomad wisdom… A paradoxical homage to the reflections that Balinese music and culture still cast on the rest of the world.

Observations bimestrielles sur le phénomène sonore dans ses relations avec le vivant. Second show of the season is a research on a collage of various mediums constantly interweave with each other: aquatic surface of field recordings, Sound Poetry, bizarre Folk Ballads, chaotic cyber sonics, experimental electro-acoustics &ampamp; pure tones. Observing that which is so close to collapse, evolving into a fully infinite potential.

@kkxxbb, a Naarm/Melbourne-based duo, have collaborated with Berlin singer Thrush, member of the feverish band Concentration, for 'Driving Through A Tunnel That Is Filling From Both Ends'. Written and produced over the last two years, the collection of tracks finds its inspiration in fabled underground cassette labels, like Aotearoa/NZ-based Xpressway.

Thrush worked with the duo over a series of sweltering Melbourne days on a number of free-spirited improvisations in the studio that were pieced together into the resulting 13-track album.

'FIFO' is the album's 5th track, a vocally chopped & screwed set of vocals rolling over equally driving percussion. Thrush's soft vocals are like drums themselves, in an incredibly animated display that feels far longer than it's 2 minute 36 second runtime.

''Driving Through A Tunnel That Is Filling From Both Ends' releases via Berlin label R.i.O, both digitally and via a series of 50 limited cassettes, this Friday, February 21.
