Not-that-long ago, whilst having a clear-out of stuff, I came across an old notebook I had from my days at uni. Instead of using it for writing lecture notes, I had been using it for putting together ideas for mixes - What could potentially work well, ideas that had just sprung to mind, etc. I had also used it for tracklisting on-the-fly mixes that did seem to work. So I decided to resurrect some of these ideas & previously-done mixes.

STRUdio Sessions 003 - Syttende Mai 2021

Some folks know of my Norwegian heritage (dad's side), and how I have become closer drawn to it in the last few years, even visiting some of my dad's Norwegian family back in 2018. And one particular day of the year that I've recently become fond of is the Norwegian Constitution Day, or Syttende Mai (17th May). So, for part 3 of my STRUdio Sets, I decided to record a special Syttende Mai set, featuring an array of Norwegian producers. Going through techno to progressive to uplifting trance, definitely one way of saying "Grattis Norge!"

SixT4 - Ronin

Up next on the Classic-Label-Mixes, something techier, a bit darker, and heavy-hitters: Reset Records. At the time, home to some absolute tech-trance monsters, from the likes of Mark Sherry, Simon Patterson, Randy Katana, Abel Ramos, and more. This one was a trickier one to put together than previous, mainly because it featured a variety of tech sounds, it wasn't all consistent (unlike the likes of classic Anjuna or ASOT etc). But, I'd say this worked out kinda alright in the end, so Enjoy!

Digging through some not-so-old mixes, came across this wee beaut, recorded back in 2017. The idea for this mix at the time was doing 2hrs of the at-the-time modern psy sound of the recently resurrected Perfecto Fluoro, going from 2011 to 2016, that period when John Askew was the Fluoro A&R. Featuring the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Angry Man, Harmonic Rush, Liquid Soul, Sean Tyas, and more.

Back a few years ago, I made an attempt at the Activa "Telic" remix competition. Didn't win it, but that's beside the point. Jump ahead to this year (s***show of a year), and during my time furloughed, I decided, amongst other music projects, to have another bash at remixing it. Had the pleasure of being a part of the 3-day B2B with a host of other DJs on the Unified 2020 broadcast, providing an hour of absolute belters! Played on Sat 31st October from 7-8am (GOOOOOOOD MORNIN' VIETNAAAAAM!!). Big love to Dave from Trance Army who gave me this opportunity. Hopefully get to do more of this in the near-future.
