His thought process behind the mix: “Growing up with lounge, ambient and progressive soul, dub rounded up the deep, sonic backdrop of my early days. Over the past five years of mixing, I realised that no matter what genre or style I am diving in, I always end up in the depths of dub-infused sounds, particularly dub techno. As it is something my mind naturally gravitates towards, I felt the urge to revisit my collection of dusty dub techno records and align them with contemporary productions. Just as my explorations in sound and rhythm this mix encapsulates different moods, rhythms and dynamics. Musically speaking, dub techno fascinates me due to its hauntingly beautiful simplicity, allowing each element to breathe and contribute to a partly tangible, partly tripped out feel. Enjoy.”

Rita Maomenos has crafted her distinctive niche, blending genres with her cinematic, obscure, and deliciously complex style. Native from Portugal, she found her musical footing in the gritty scene of Rotterdam, before recently re-settling in Lisbon, adding a fresh perspective to the local scene. 
Drawing inspiration from the intricacies of humanity and society, her music is a response to modern-life anguish, replete with political and environmental concerns. It is often a social reflection, sometimes a vulnerable admission of defeat, and others, a hedonist escapade. From her roots as a resident at club Perron in Rotterdam and a regular presence on Operator radio, Rita's music stands out for delivering a mental and mysterious journey through intricate drum patterns and eerie soundscapes. Her creations, released on labels like Diffuse Reality, Ōtomo, Kepler Live Records, Elberec, and LXVIII, offer a glimpse into her universe; a place where the beats are as bold as the imagery they evoke.
