With this mix I wanted to evoke a bizarre or paranormal environment. I’ve been toying with the concept of soundscapes as a form of escapism & world-building, and wanted to explore that here. These 54 minutes take us on a journey through uncanny melodies and energetic bass lines, assembling alternative narratives in a parallel timeline.

Angelia Word is an interdisciplinary artist and DJ. Her artistry is heavily influenced by the rawness of lo-fi house and a propensity for the sinister. Speed is her weakness, with many mixes traveling across high BPMs and incorporating elements of nostalgia and goofiness. Her mixes are often inspired by her frustration at the systems that crush us, and her desperation for a better collective future. She is co-founder of the collective and label FemmeDecks.
