Based in Manchester, Waiwan was a forward-thinking fixture of the nu jazz, trip hop and electronic scene in the UK during the late '90s and broke through with his dark Distraction album and 'Goddess' single in '98, both on short-lived label Autonomy. As a remixer, he added his production class anyone from Fertile Ground to Simple Minds and his excellent KPM edit of Keith Mansfield's 'Crash Course' was played by both the jazz scene (Russ Dewbury, Rainer Truby, Jazzanova) and nu disco scenes alike, appearing on Idjut Boys Saturday Nite Live compilation.
