Stryfe comes from the word “strife” which means struggle—namely struggle against evil, hatred, and treachery. Our message communicates from anxiety within the human condition—desperately searching for harmony and purity. Stryfe’s utmost focus is to bring people together and create a sense of unity and significance at both the individual and group level.

The band was formed in 2003 in Yerevan, Armenia.  In a very short period of time, the group took part in several festivals geared towards political and social improvements in their region—such as ROCK AGAINST AIDS – devoted towards the struggle with AIDS in 2005, and another geared towards recognition of the Armenian Genocide.  The group also received financial support from the British Embassy of Armenia and organized a festival in November of 2005 which was devoted to a Referendum to amend The Constitution of The Republic of Armenia—the festival was dubbed Rock the Referendum.  Another festival organized by Stryfe was Rock the Borders, which was sponsored by OSI and Stryfe welcome bends from Kazakhstan, Georgia, Russia, Turkey, Italy, and Armenia.

Founding members Kar and Kore later made a difficult decision to relocate Stryfe to the United States and there continued the journey.

The band’s final lineup was formed in California and is as such:

Sergio Ochoa on vocals, Kar Khurshudyan on guitars, Koryun Bobikyan on drums, and Karo Torosyan on bass guitar. Each member brings experience and stylistic nuances to the table, giving the group a unique yet familiar sound which reverberates across all their material.

In 2017, Stryfe began writing, recording, mixing, and mastering their debut full-length album “Cursed Theatre” which is set to be released in fall of 2019.  Stryfe’s first video single “Velvet Revolution” also debuted in 2019 and was first performed for a live audience during the Balloon & Wine Festival in Temecula, CA.
