It's been said that sometimes the longer you wait, the better the reward.  That holds true today as we are stoked to offer up our first 2015 headlining festival set from Austin's Euphoria Festival, in full, for FREE.   We had an amazing time kicking off our festival season and look forward to many more to come this summer.  We hope you enjoy the set.  We really did!

This song started on a late june evening after a sunset run through the bungalow-lined streets of portage park, a breath from the bustling grid of chicago, it was a thursday and Sarah made some impromptu mouth noises into her phone.

Neon Tongue

STS9's "The Universe Inside" out now!

"Elsewhere," is a live recording of a studio improvisation that was combined with percussionist Jeffree Lerner’s recording of a nearby beach as the ocean’s waves were pulled ashore by a full moon. The sample "just beyond the bay, near the entrance to the Golden Gate" is another reminder of where the story of the album is taking place in that moment. The track’s title is a reference to that place the band goes together musically; a place where feel overrides form.

The album is a mastered recording of the band’s performance at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on April 21st, 2018. The ‘Live at Red Rocks’ set contains three unreleased tracks, treating listeners to their live versions before the studio recordings are officially released. The album starts with the trio taking the stage with fan favorites “Deluxe” and “Pablito” before diving into a 3-part metamorphosis “Caterpillar” > “Chrysalis” (unreleased) > “Night Moth” (unreleased). Additional surprises in the set include a SunSquabi extended band featuring additional instrumentation from Nicholas Gerlach (Saxophone), Will Trask (percussion), Eric Luba (keys), Leah Druzinsky (vocals) and Darryl Abrahamson (Trumpet) on the tracks “Cinnamon”, “Just A Little”, and “Pygmy Up”.

SunSquabi will be releasing “Chrysalis” and “Night Moth” this summer leading up to a full EP in Fall 2018. Keep an eye out for the new music and catch them at festivals all over the country this Summer.

20 years before the emergence of STS9, NASA sent Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 on a mission to the farthest reaches of the solar system and beyond. Each of these probes was equipped with identical Golden Records, special messages attached to what Carl Sagan called “a bottle launched into the cosmic ocean.” They contained numerous images and sounds from throughout the world, pieces of music from various cultures, a map identifying the location of our planet, and other information for whomever, or whatever, might find them.

While the Golden Records included greetings in 59 languages, they made no mention of nations and borders, wars and rivalries, or anything else that divides us. What they did mention was life, love, peace, birth--the things that bind us to one another and to the planet we call home. 

The Universe Inside is a reflection of this message. It is a story about human identity and the magical truth of who we are, where we’re going, and our place in the Universe. It says we are one, made of stardust and the forces of nature that evolved over billions of years. Connected by the sun, moon and stars, we are the living, breathing conscience of the Universe. 

"We are one, made from dust of the stars / down here we bear the weight of the pain and the scars / just want to live with nothing to hide / every one of us a universe inside."
