A simple little project to turn a poem into a song.

The Bell of Hope

In a simpler time gone by, sunlight through the trees
Shone a light upon a world that only souls could see
Where did it all go? We wonder why and yet we know
The footsteps taken still remain through the ebb and flow

Oh and so we go......as above, so below

We plasticize the oceans, lay waste at Heaven's gate
Build our walls so strong and tall with bigotry and hate
The forests burn like hellfire while the icebergs melt away
Morning comes, the colors run in shades of black and gray

Terra cotta warriors and cities made by hand
Wisdom of the ancients lie buried in the sand
Tar and concrete stifle traces of the past
Visions of their future, they hoped that it would last

Oh and so we go

On an easier path we try, gentle is the breeze
We sing a song, create a world where only we can be
In the darkness of the night, whispers in our ears
Tell us how to heal the world, let go of all our fears

We read the morning news feed to fuel our daily fears
Out for confirmation to validate our tears
Course of our existence through powders, pipes and pills
To shadow this illusion cast upon free will

With the rising sun the truth comes through the crevice and the cracks
We can't forget the ones before and the weight upon their backs
