Double A-side Wallspace and Over is so Over might be a debut release for Nihilsts, but it’s the work of a team whose talent and experience has resulted in a pair of astonishing songs. Both tracks strain with delicacy, depth and a woozy danceability.

Nihilists are the result of a curious convergence of minds: three Manchester musicians, (including ex-Puressence vocalist James Mudriczki), producer (Dave Eringa) and an all-time-great guitarist (Nick McCabe).

Thrumming with weighty synths and caffeinated drumming, Wallspace’s relentlessness is reminiscent of ‘Violator’-era Depeche Mode; while Over is so Over is a sprawling meisterwerk, driven by punchy strings resulting in a song of dazzling scope.

Both Wallspace and Over is so Over feature unmistakable guitar contributions from one of the greatest guitarists of his generation - Nick McCabe, ex- of the Verve. 

Mixed by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, The Who), Nihilists’ debut is released by Classic Album Club Records - a collective record label that grew out of a passionate Facebook group.

Co-led by award-winning columnist Phil Peverley, CAC Records is dedicated to releasing classic rock from the British bands they love.

Phil - a GP/Doctor - describes how running the label was his “salvation from General Practice”:

“[Rock Stars] work on a different level – all right-brain, while doctors are all left-brain. They’re beautiful, totally abnormal people who are simultaneously loveable and infuriating. It has been the most inspiring and interesting time of my life.”

Nihilists’ James Mudriczki agrees:
